Swim
Comments: Fastest female, over 1 minute ahead of second female. The swim was great. The women started with the guys which was great for me because I had people to swim with. I swam the first 2 min or so with this guy who was totally trying to race me (guess he didn't want to get beat by a girl) and was doing two strokes to my one. He died, so then just swam with the lead pack for the rest of the race. Felt steady and didn't do more than a two beat kick to save my legs. It was difficult finishing because of the very rocky bottom. What would you do differently?: Nothing in particular. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was OK, had trouble getting pedals to click in. What would you do differently?: Practice clicking into and out of shoes more fluidly. Bike
Comments: Bike felt OK, but need to work on a faster cadence. Rode with same pack pretty much the whole way. I think I could have gone faster, but wanted to save for the run. Left knee hurt a little. What would you do differently?: Work on cadence. Transition 2
Comments: I am not coordinated enough yet to take my shoes off before I get off the bike. I also had trouble clicking out on my right side. Transition itself was OK, but forgot to take helmet off for the first few moments...didn't realize till a spectator shouted "your helmet"! LOL -My Dad got a funny pick of that one :) What would you do differently?: Remember to take my helmet off...first! Run
Comments: Had a bit of a runny nose. Had a hard time breathing (though better tthan last race). I felt I could have run faster had I been able to breath better. I passed a person for the first time in my triathlon career! Ok, so he was a 14 yr old boy, but it still counts, right? I got caught by the female winner at the beginning of the run, passed by the second place female with about .7 miles left, still was able to hold on for third overall in the women! What would you do differently?: Work on lengthening my stride and breathing. Post race
Warm down: Talking to friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need more work on the bike and need to work on transitioning from bike to run so that breathing is not an issue. Event comments: Fun, low key, local event. Note: took :30 off swim, :45 off bike and :15 off run to factor in transition times (official splits do not include transitions).
