Subject: Weekly Run Mileage Question I'm training for a January marathon (my first 26.2) using Hal Higdon's 18-week novice training plan. I'm building for long runs in November and December and training and mileage are going well. My question is this: Week 10 is Thanksgiving week and there is a local 16-mile turkey trot on Thanksgiving Day, which would take the place of my 11/27 long run (15 miles). My schedule looks like this: Sat., 11/19 - Rest Sun., 11/20 - 13 mile long run Mon., 11/21 - cross (I usually swim on Mondays) Tue., 11/22 - Rest Wed., 11/23 - 3 miles Thur., 11/24 - 7 miles (this is where I'd insert the 16 miler) Fri., 11/25 - 4 miles Sat., 11/26 - Rest Sun., 11/27 - 16 miles
I was thinking of swapping the 16 miler and the 7-miler for Sunday (11/27), but thinking running 13 miles the Sunday before and 16 miles on Wednesday would be too much stacked up. Not sure how I should mix this all up so I can stay on target with my mileage but not screw myself up. Opinions? Thanks for the help! |
