Did not have a chance to have any pre-race warmup.

Comments:

Good run for me. My first split was 8:06. Second was approximately 8:25 and third (guessing on this) must have improved upon teh 2nd split to8:15 or so. Had enough for a decent kick at the end. I resisted the temptation to lengthen my stride and catch "annoying MP3 screaming Meatloaf lyrics" man - I came in a couple of seconds behind him. To be fair to MP3 man, he did have a decent voice. I was able to catch the runner who was running with her dog. I guess I thought I should be able to outrun someone who was running with their pet. I am not sure why I thought I should beat her but it is kind of like when you get passed by a nun in full habit or a runner pushing a stroller or an 8 year old running backwards (yes - all of these things have happened to me).

Warm down:

Did some stretching and drank lots of water.

Event comments:

The Fall charity Fest that follows the race is outstanding. Live music, free food (and beer!) for runners, kid's game, raffles, etc. I hope the race continues to grow in popularity.

Course: This is a very flat loop course around the mills in Manchester, NH. It is a very fast course. Honestly, there is not much to look at as you run but it is o fast that you are done before you know it!

Hippo is the name of a local alternative newspaper - they sponsor the run! Not sure why they named themselves "hippo"
