Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:00 and had englsih muffin with PB, cup of coffee and 20 oz of water. I left at 6:15 to go pick up a friend that was running as well.
Event warmup:

None, it was raining too hard.

Comments:

It was just horrible weather. Downpours, humidity, just really terrible running conditions. I didn't know what to expect so I started out at a comfortable pace and played it by ear. For the 1st 6 miles, I was running pretty consistent 7:00/miles. However, my legs started getting tired so I backed off a bit for a few miles. Miles 7 through 11 went pretty well. I was able to maintain about a 7:15-7:30 pace. After mile 11, I was actually feeling strong so I picked up the pace. That was short-lived as at 11.5, I was pretty dead and just fought my home.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a little and waited for others to cross the line. Met up with Rob and Dave. We just chatted briefly as Dave needed ice and Rob needed warmth (like all of us). I hung around until my buddy that drove in with finished and then I headed out.

Event comments:

I was really happy with my race. My goal was to break 1:40 and I was thrilled with my time and place. My legs are absolutely killing me right now so I guess I could not have gone any faster, always the sign of a successful race for me.

Great race under horrible conditions!   While we needed the rain it's unfortunate it couldn't hold off a couple of days for you guys who had to race that day.  Hope someday I'll be able to run that fast under perfect conditions let alone in heavy rain and humidity
