Pre-race routine:

Didn't sleep much, so slept in car on ride down. Had a bagel and Starbucks for my pre-event meal.

Event warmup:

Some light jogging to get a sweat going (Lisa wouldn't let me bring the trainer)

Transition 1

Comments:

Very fast transition - easy b/c it was a relay. Laura ran into transition with the chip in hand, I was all ready, put the chip on and ran out. Shoes were already on the bike, so I was able to mount quickly and get up to speed.

What would you do differently?:

Comments:

Felt really good overall, passed only by the guy who ended up winning the race, and I passed a whole ton more people. Granted, it is easier when you don't need to run after, nor have to swim before.

What would you do differently?:

Have a TT bike - aero would have helped, esp on this course.

Transition 2

Comments:

Ended up sprinting into T2 from the bike, and was going too fast to get out of shoes as planned. I ended up just clipping out and running with the bike shoes. Lisa took the chip from my ankle and went off.

What would you do differently?:

Get out of shoes earlier, and been able to run into transition easier.

Not having a TT bike.

Event comments:

Nice race - I don't know if it is $50 nice. Award ceremony is extremely long. No water post race, just lemonade.

Ave HR 177, Max 183 HRM was on the fritz - I think the chip was messing up with its data connection - didn't get a consistent connection until about halfway into race.
Wind:	Headwind with gusts
Course:	West for 3mi, U turn back for 2.5, back out for another 2.5, then back home. Very windy - 10mph constant with bigger gusts - nice for the parts out, brutal coming back in. One bridge to climb, which was done 4 times in the course.

Great race Barry!! What is this crap I wouldn't let you bring the trainer? Uh huh.....anyways, glad you got to experience your first triathlon. Hope you do some more sprints next season.
