Light jogging and stretching. Had a snickers marathon half an hour before the start.
Run
  • 3h 56m 48s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Excellent conditions for a race. Light tailwind pleasant sunshine with a little cloud cover. I ran all the way apart from the walks through the feed stations and a couple of toilet breaks. Everything went exactly as planned
What would you do differently?:

This time was 35 minutes faster than last year. I wouldn't do anything different. Though something I have to work on is my pacing. Keep that a bit more even
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, kept moviing and sampled the excellent post race food.

Event comments:

Last year I hit the wall. Not this year. Mile 14 passed with no problems, then 15, 16, 17, 18. I couldn't believe it. Mile 20 passed the furthest I've ever run. Then the mental games began Mile 24 was tough. But I saw I could go sub 4 hours and gritted my teeth and headed for home. I'd run that far I wasn't going to quit now. My kick at the finish was so striong I was almost sprinting.
