Run
Comments: Once I started the downhill portion (mile 10) I started to run faster because I still felt pretty good. That ended up being a mistake! By mile 11 I felt like I was going to puke and I noticed that my heart rate was very high. So I had to walk a couple times that mile to get my heart rate down. All the cheering and encouragement made me start running again and I started to calculate what pace I'd need to maintain to still make my 2 hour time. Ended up doing a really hard sprint at the end to make sure I made it under 2. What would you do differently?: Not try to run a 7 minute mile in the middle of the race! :-) Get some better running shoes, I had really bad blisters by the end. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank a bunch of water, ate some fruit What limited your ability to perform faster: Cardio capacity! Muscles were fine but definitely need to do longer runs more frequently. Event comments: Very fun, definitely want to do this again next year. Last updated: 2005-06-13 12:00 AM
