The bonking only 30 min in is a. a result of not eating properly (though unlikely in the small amount of time you rode ) or b. blood pooling. When you do extremely hard running or cycling, the bloodflow increases to the muscles of the lower leg. When you stop suddenly, your heart rate drops and with all the blood in your legs, your body has a tough time getting enough oxygenated blood to the brain. This is the reason we have cool downs. It can be fairly common and will leave you feeling light headed until you get rid of the extra blood in the legs. Lying down or even just sitting down so it is easier to move that blood around help. |
