Pre-race routine:

up at 5:30, had coffee and oatmeal, met some friends in the hotel lobby, walked ~1/2 mile to race start, met more fiends in different hotel lobby, stayed inside to stay warm, early morning temp was in the 30's
Event warmup:

just a little jogging, mostly to stay warm
Run
  • 5h 30m
  • 26.2 miles
  • 12m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

went out at a comfortable pace with three other friends, one left us to go faster, we lost another at mile 7 when stopping for a bathroom break, the whole plan for this race was to run easy, enjoy the race and the crowds and not worry about a finish time, I will admit the course was challenging, the hills were not huge, but I live in the flatlands
What would you do differently?:

nothing, I had no time goal for this race since I just ran Marine Corps 2 weeks ago, I knew I could finish the race and I justed wanted to have some fun
Post race
Warm down:

got medal, water, walked down the hill to get some post race pizza, came back uphill to wait for my husband to finish

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my slowness as a runner, and the fact that I ran Marine Corps 2 weeks ago

Event comments:

I thought that this was a great race. Not huge like the last few events I've been in, there were about 4700 marathoners. I felt like I had room to run without constantly dodging people, the local crowd was great for support, pleanty of water stations and post race food even for those finishing at the back of the pack.

Great race. I ran this race also and had the similiar feelings about the event. I had to walk back up the hill from the food place, which was probably the hardest thing I did all day. I'm amazed that you did this after running the MCM, I don't think I'll be ready for another marathon in 2 weeks. Congratulations.

Good job! You're like the marathon Diva. How many have you done now? Not many people would consider running a marathon something to do just for fun!

Congrats!

You are an amazing runner. Two marathons...make that three this year...but two two weeks apart.

I'm glad you had fun and enjoyed the day. Sounds like a fun event!

You Rock!! I wish it would work out for you to come do one with me...we need to figure it out. Oh.....MaTriMom and I want to do 1/2 IM as a relay and we need a runner......the race is in Sept....it is flat!

I'm in awe!!
