Subject: Cheating bf & vacation - Part II
Well, since many of you asked for a "vacation report," I just wanted to let you know that this one will get a DNS. After talking to my friends and family (and being told by about 70 BTers), I have decided to not take the trip with my cheating ex-boyfriend. I am losing some money, but I think my sanity and emotional health is most important right now. I also decided not to take the trip alone, because I think that if I got out there and became depressed/upset about the situation I found myself in, that it will just be a miserable 10 days...and not a healing 10 days. So, I've decided to use the airline credit I am receiving from cancelling my vacation to buy a plane ticket out to Southern California (I'm a Jersey girl). So, instead of sitting home and being miserable for 10 days, I will spend a few days with a good girlfriend of mine in Los Angeles and then a few days with one of my best friends in San Diego.

As of now, the only race I know the ex-boy and I are both doing this coming season is the Philly Triathlon in June. My goal is to just close the gap between our two finishing times. I don't expect to beat him, but I at least want to close that gap. And, if any of you out there will be at the race and don't mind doing a little side job during the swim or bike, just let me know and I think we can make some arrangements....Just Kidding!

Well, thanks for your support and advice. Glad to see that there are some good tri guys out there. Janelle, I know you're searching for a good tri guy. When you finally think you meet one, just give me a holler so I can be sure it's not my former tri guy!! haha.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

Lauren, I am surprised and impressed. Great job! You sounded a bit soft on the whole thing from this distance. I'm glad you made a good decision for yourself, and also made fun alternate plans to look forward to.

I must admit I was rather excited to hear about some potential violence delievered on his person during the trip. But this is an excellent alternative.

VERY good compromise. i know it must have been hard to give up a trip you have been looking forward to, but you are still getting a vacation that will probably be as much fun if not more so...and definately better for your heart and soul. best of luck to you!

Great Job and stay strong...If you would like I can be the dude who panicks and "forgets" how to swim in a crowd and grab hold to a**hole ex and hold him under for a while. Just think I'm 6'3 200 I could really cause him to expend alot of energy trying to get away from the Pirate who "couldn't" swim he he he

... I think my sanity and emotional health is most important right now.

It's always most important. If you've got your emotional health, you can make better life decisions and choices.

Congratulations on choosing wisely!

I think that the whole "Do I go on the bike or not?" discussion could be rolled into this and would be a far more appropriate "reward" than a little elbow in the swim.... encourage a little drafting and away you go.

I know its wrong but

i didn't post in that last thread because i often find the concept of offering advice to someone hundreds of miles away that i dont know a tad awkward (not to say that asking for or giving advice is wrong, i just choose not too).

anywho, i'm glad you made this decision. its what i would have told you to do if i had given you advice. you'll be glad once you have enough distance to look back and objectively view the situation.

Thanks everyone...and especially to those of you who offered to take care of the boy at the Philly Triathlon haha

Madcow, I would LOVE to cycle around San Diego, but unfortunately my stay there is going to be very short and tri-free. Thanks so much for the offer, though. I am reduced to trainer rides over here in Jersey, so nice, sunny, warm, outdoor rides would have been nice. Just won't be able to make it happen. But thanks.

Hey everyone, enjoy your THANKSGIVING!!!
