Run
Comments: This was a great run. I haven't done a 5k in years and wasn't sure how to pace. After about 1/2 mile I was breathing hard but didn't slow down like I used to. 1st mile was 7:47 which was much faster than expected. I kept up the pace since I felt great and knew there was only 2 miles left. 2nd mile was 7:41!! There was another triathlete ahead of me that I had lost 2 on the run in a couple of races so my goal was to catch him. We passed each other a few times but I beat him out at the end. (He sounded like he was coughing up a lung, so that may not have been such a great feat. Anyway, my race goal was to beat 25 minutes, which I wasn't too sure of. My final time - 24:02!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing. That was my best for today and much better than expected. Post race
Warm down: Walk around, drink water, eat bagels. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to do some more speed work and participate in more races. Last updated: 2005-11-24 12:00 AM

Drive to race. Drink some water, coffee.
5 minute run, stretching, run 1 mile with some short sprints. Broke a nice sweat and finished warm up about 5 minutes before the start. Except they started late.
