Sunny
Total Time = 1h 28m 29s
Overall Rank = 116/139
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 7/8
Pre-race routine:

Had a balance bar, drove to the site. Had a gu before the run because I wanted to kick butt.
Event warmup:

Ran about 5 minutes - felt good
Swim
  • 07m 49s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Well, that sucked. But it was the last part of the race instead of the first and I had worked HARD on the other legs, so I'm not entirely surprised.
Transition 1
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

This was actually from the bike to the swim. I totally forgot my swim cap, goggles and left my tank top on. Bleah. But I did manage to get my shoes and socks off in one very smooth move.....
Bike
  • 42m 19s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.01 mile/hr
Comments:

Nailed it. 4th in my age group, respectable speed even with the slow downs.
What would you do differently?:

Just imagine what I could do with clipless pedels and shoes!
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Run in, put on helmet, grab bike and run out - comparitively easy.
Run
  • 35m 24s
  • 3 miles
  • 11m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

PERSONAL BEST! I realize that on the grand scale of thing that time isn't great, but on the me scale of things that was far and away the best run I have ever had!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - I want to do it like that every time!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, put on sweats over my suit and packed things up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The 50 extra pounds on my butt, but I'm working on it.

Event comments:

The course is very fast and therefore very satisfying. The backwards thing actually worked well for me since it let me get the running out of the way first, although it absolutely killed my swimming time. Ah well, that's 8 minutes out of an hour or more....Overall I am just plain pleased with myself!

Oh, and afterward they gave out the trophies for the Point Series.  I got 2nd for my age group!  (You had to finish 3 races during the year and got points for where you finished!)  I'll be uploading the picture later!

Great Job and congrats on hardware for the series!!

I remember your debate if you should do this or not....glad you competed and did super. Congrats on your PR on the run portion.

Sounds interesting to do a tri backwards with swim last....very different.

Cool speed on your bike...all your time in the saddle is paying off!

Congrats!

I was standing next to the light pole right in front of you before you went up to get your award.  I was one of the First Wave Tri guys in a yellow shirt...you were talking to your mom I think...anyhow, congrats.  I wish now I would have taken a second to introduce myself...my bad, but I just wasn't sure until now -- seeing your trophy and all.  Congrats on winning that!

I placed 2nd for my age group...my trophy looks just like yours but says Male :-)  go figure.  You got the 25 bucks to the bike shop right?  Or did you get the 25 for Carlos O'Brians?

My mother-in-law actually, but I like her a lot and she really enjoyed watching the race!

I ended up with 25 to swimmers edge actually.  bike shop would have been better, but i can use that anyway;  I need to get a few swim training things to get my speed up!

Congrats on placing 2nd in your group as well!  Which one did you end up with?

Are you doing Anthem?  Maybe we can finally meet at the third event we both do!  :-)

I got the Carlos O'Brians gift certificate...I wanted the bike shop dang it!  I just don't get why any triathlete would want a gift certificate to a food place as a reward for a long year of hard work...of course I want to replace my gear thats all worn out now geez...LOL I'm happy though, my wife will benifit finally from my hard work with a date night to guess where.
