Comments:

Great run this morning! Felt good about the distance and about the time I did. Asics performed great and the orthodics and the ChoPat strap have kept the ITBS asleep. Feels great not to hurt!
What would you do differently?:

Not run with a cotton shirt. The sweat and water must of added 3 pounds to me. Next time I will also remove the pouch on my race belt. By error, I rqan with my cell phone and car keys. NO MORE!
Post race
Warm down:

Crossed the finish line and hydrated. Ate a banana and 1 cookie. Afterwards frank invited to breakfast at this killer bagel place where I ate a veggie omeltte and a bagel. Except for the 3 lbs of cream cheese that I scraped off, the place was AWESOME!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

30 extra pounds I gotta lose. Mt cell phone and keys in my pouch and the cotton anchor!

Event comments:

My wife walked the 5K and won her age group. She actually took home hardware and so Congratulations to her. Not only does she rock for taking care of my 3 little varmints, but she woke up early, walked the 5K and still cheered me as I was coming across the finish. Course: Departed from the old Burger king Headquartes on Palmetto Bay for a nice stroll through residential Palmetto Bay. Ran on the crown of the road because of the drainage grade was a bit steep. Couple of dead racoons were the only road kill I saw.

Good pace for such a long distance ... congrats on logging a race of size.

While I am learnt in the splendors of cotton (many friends from college from the Mississippi delta), I am a firm believer in Coolmax + other moisture wicking clothing.  You do not have to drop a lot of coin on it either ... I've bought both running shorts and shirts from Wal-Mart and they work just as well as the NB stuff I got from my local running store.

Asics? Love 'em ... got fitted at my store for mid-sole/arch support and my Asics rock.

Congrats again ... wish I could run in your weather!
