What is the longest distance ROUND-TRIP you've travelled just for some particular food craving? Growing up, my dad would routinely drive 50 miles each way for a favorite doughnut shop. We made a 140 mile "Slilder Run" in college. |

When I lived in Baton Rouge, my soon-to-be wife and I would drive to New Orleans to get this brownie ala mode dessert at the Hard Rock Cafe there, but that was more out of boredom than a mad craving. |

Elite 2421 | Subject: RE: What is your longest junk food run? When I lived in Minot, ND we would drive about 200 miles each way to the nearest Wings place, which was BW3's in Grand Forks. I'm not sure if it was so much for the wings as it was to get the eff out of Minot for a day. bts |

The distance was no biggie, but it was the effort involved. 2 years ago on a backpacking trip, a group of us were camped out, 4 miles in the woods, at an elevation of 2,500 higher than the trailhead. I ran down the mountain, jumped in the car, drove 8 miles to the store, drove back to the trailhead and climbed back up to the camp location. Well, we were running short on wine, plus I brought a half-dozen fresh baked muffins for the next day's breakfast. |
