I did the sprint 12 years ago. I am coming back to do the olympic distance this year. I've been running for years - 10Ks, 12Ks, 1/2 marathons, marathon - but this is my first triathlon since the Wildflower Sprint in 1994. I look forward to the challenge. I would love to chat with other people to see how their training is going, etc. I'm in San Francisco.

First tri ever was the MTB at Wildflower '05. Excited but nervous about going Olympic, especially on this course, I did a couple sprints last year here in Wisconsin and have been looking forward to this for a long time!

Coming all the way out from WI, that is awesome.  I just love the atmosphere at WF; your really feel what triathlon is all about.  I just want to hit my number this year.  I have been working my butt off the cut the weight and increase the speed this year.

What other races have you done?

17 days till Wildlfower Olympic

Hi Jryals--

My brother lives in SF, so it's a great time to see him and do something we both enjoy. Last summer I did the Waupaca sprint, which is a small but fun event put on by the Waupaca area chamber of commerce here in WI. Also did an informal tri that a friend of mine puts on, and though it is informal, we had about 80 people last year.

I'm planning on doing the Olympic distance at Elkart Lake in June, and probably the sprint in Racine in July, though my GF is trying to talk me into the half Ironman she signed up for that weekend... I think I should do a half marathon by itself before signing up for a half Ironman!

Had a good swim workout last night, but I've got shin splints so I'm worried I'll have to back off on running for a bit. Can't believe how fast this is coming up!

Water temp - comfortable w/full wetsuit. A little cooler than it was for last year's race.

Road conditions - There were some minor rock slides, but there was a crew out there cleaning up the road. It was really windy on Sunday, but who knows what it'll be like in two weeks.

Run - nothing too interesting here, except that there were a lot of bugs and running along the lake front gives you a good perspective of how much rain we've gotten. There are grills, trees and stairs in the water!

I am glad to hear the water level is high. San Antonio is great place to racea and even better with things green.  I wonder how the allergies are going to react though.

I'll be there Friday night, and have all day saturday to figure that out.

What wave is everyone in?  I go in at 9:20 25-29 first wave.

i think i'm more nervous this year (2nd time) because i now have a more realistic idea of what i can do - so now i have to try to beat my time from last year!

I'm nervous too. First oly, and I'm worried about hills. Glad I've been to WF before, I did the mtb tri last year, and excited to be stepping up. Really have no idea what to expect for a finish time but I've been telling myself I've just been training to finish. Felt great on a relaxed six mile run last night and a 27 mile ride tonight. Going to run 3 tommorrow after work and then the resting begins! Flight from Milwaukee to San Fran leaves bright and early Friday morning, can't wait to be in Cali.
