Comments:

Went out maintaining about a 10:00 pace. I felt pretty good through the first half passing the half way point around 2:16 on the timing clock. I was able to go non-stop until mile 19. Previously in training the longest I have gone was about 15 miles before I had to walk for a few minutes. I had altered my training after some tightness in my hamstrings to go no more than 6 miles before talking a walking break. After mile 19, I worked at going non stop between the aid stations then walking for few minutes. After the last station at 24.5, I picked up the pace and maintained an 8:30 mile until the finish line.

What would you do differently?:

Work on the long distance runs in training. But considering injuries to the hammies and ankle, and all the crap with Katrina I am pleased with this race performance.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate some Red Beans and Rice. Met Derek and Lorie Laurie Lejeune. Drove back home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I ran to the maximum performance of my training.

Event comments:

Well at least I finished. I was not happy I missed out on all the King Cake either.

Jeez you picked it up to a 8.5 min/mi pace for the last .7 miles??

I don't think it's normal to have that kind of energy to finish a marathon LOL! You ran a great marathon, considering the injuries!

Tomorrow: swim and bike. November is coming FAST!

Congratulations on your first marathon!

I meant to say 24.5, yeah 8:30 for the last 1.7 miles.

Swim starts tommorow, biking later this week.  I need a break from running.

Way to go Rob. Very impressive time and super job on the 8:30 pace at the end. To take your training up to those levels after all you guys went through this year is an inspiring story and I am very happy for you and Joann. Look forward to racing together again at Gulf Coast but I think you will put an end to my streak easily!

congrats Ken

Rob, I think you need to write to the race officials and get them to send you a king cake!  You deserve it after the race you had!  Congrats and it was great to finally meet you and Joann!
