I'd stay with the snowboarding.
It was a cold and icey night on the slopes. I had just ripped off some cool 180's. The bottom half the hill I like to practice my methods so I tipped the board forward and off I went. As I reach the section with the best mogel a large moose appeared on the hill. Just as I was to turn the moose hit a ...............

Next up to work on it

Sorry about the arm. Glad it wasn't to bad.

Well I can say that I was in your same shoes!!! I was running backwards in a basketball game and fell and broke my wrist in a couple places!! To make it worse, on the way to another game after I broke it we watched tape on the bus and we watched the fall more then once!!! I had to laugh because you never think it is going to happen to you!!

Keep you spirits up!! It will get better and at least it wasnt a knee or anything like that!!!

Hope you are doing better!

I feel your pain.  I broke an ankle skiing last year and my story is kind of meek as well.  I bailed from a gladed trail when I saw a bump that I didn't want to go flying over.  Really, I just leaned over into the snow, and planted myself.  Intentionally.  And couldn't stand up after that.  Ended up being taken off the mountain in a rescue sled by the ski patrol.

My story would be soooo much cooler if I had skied down on a broken ankle.

Try the snowboarding story.  I like it.

My Hubbie and a good friend went snowboarding last year and the friend broke his achilles tendon on the first 15 ft of the run. (Incidentally, he borke the other achilles the year before!).

Basically they adapted the event to include a yeti, and the Kokanee girls (for all you Canucks out there).

Go for it, make the story your own...

Were you doing a 50/50 nose slide on the urban rail and nearly hit it perfect?

OK, so here are some possible stories for ya.  Either you broke it doing a sick 780 during the olympics, which the fall took you out of the medal race.  You got hit by a car because you jumped in front to save a child/dog.  Or you were backhanding your stupid *** boyfriend and broke your wrist on his head.  Let me know which one you decide to use.

Definitely stick with snowboarding. One time in high school I sprained my ankle over a winter weekend. Alas, the truth came out whenever anyone asked:

"So, skiing accident?"

"Uh, no, I was walking my dogs."

Yep. Tried to shorten my time in the rain by walking my dog and my sister's both at once (HER dog would not have gotten a walk if I didn't do it, only one of us was crazy enough to take the dogs out in the rain), but really together they were a bit much, I was stupid enough to wrap the leashes around my wrist for traction, ended up getting taken for a drag. My knees were purple for about 10 years after that, and the left one still has bits of gravel in it, visible under the skin, some 20 ski seasons later. Yeah. Actually, it was a skiing accident.

I know what its like... to an extent. I broke my tailbone about 5 years ago (cant remember when) in hockey. Wasnt fun... its not like they can put a cast on you either for it. It would be like wearing a diaper! haha I couldnt do anything active for a few weeks. Then I tried playing hacky sack with some friends. I jumped up and when I landed all I felt was a Crack! and a really sharp and painful feeling in my tailbone... so I undid what my body had repaired up until that point. Lots of fun... So here is my tip. Take it easy, at least with activites that involve using your arm. Other than that I dont think I have broken anything else, so I have no more advice.
For a final comment, get well soon!!!

p.s Stick with the ski story. I always found it to be a cool way to break something... at least from when my friends have done it. It seems that skiing one of the most popular ways of doing it lol. Better than you breaking it doing something really stupid, so you're safe

Just tellem' you did it snowboarding-------a snowboarding accident.  That in intself is cool.  It's better than a walking up the stairs accident or tripping over my own two feet accident

Incidentally, I fractured my radial head (elbow) mtn. biking in '02.  It took almost a year before I was actually pain free- and even now, once in a while, it will flare up.  Although, my break involved the shifting of tendons (which is what hurt the most) as my radial head- half of the little ball in your elbow that allows your hand to suppinate (palm up) was shattered to dust causing the tendons to be affected.

Anyhow- I just told people I broke my elbow on a week long camping/mtn. biking adventure in Kentucky.  Going uphill- even.

Hope you heal surely and quickly- it's no fun!!

so far I have stuck with telling the truth.. snowboarding.  Seems to get varied reactions, but the guy I'm dating thinks its hot so no complaints there.  Thanks for all the advice.  At this point (just a week later) I am feeling pretty pain free (therefore am drug free, not sure what was worse.. the pain or the drugs, whew, they did a number on me)  I went on a run (with lotsa walking) yesterday and was pretty happy just tp be out doing something.  Didn't even notice my arm. so I'm gonna take it slow, but I'll continue to push forward.

p.s the cast is blue
