Hyannis 10K - Run

View Member's Race Log View other race reports
Hyannis, Massachusetts
United States
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 40-49
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Layered up.
Run
  • 1h 13m 3s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

I hadn't been training, so my strategy was to keep a slow and steady pace. Somewhere between mile 5 and the finish, I lost my stamina. I had to go to walk intervals, and this blew my time.

It was a beautiful, crisp sunny day.
What would you do differently?:

One less layer.

I should have paid attention to my time. Perhaps if I saw along the way what I was achieving (or not), it may have impacted my mentality.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched, changed into dry clothes. Had some soup, bagel, chips, and water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough base training.

Event comments:

It was great to see the other BT'ers there. JoAnne (tri_again) had a sign up for us. You are great JoAnne! Hooked up with Glen to say hey, he always says all the right things!

Someday, I'll be there with a great time, and have a great race!

ALLRIGHT NIKKI!!!!  woohoo....you could have easily slept in and stayed under the covers this am but you braved the temps and worked thru the distance...that's a sign of an  'ironwoman'!!

BBBRRRR....are you warmed up yet???? cappy sparrow and i almost decided to do the 10k instead of the 13 due to the chill!!

Was great to bump into you in the lobby, you looked great!!! psyched now to get back?? Give me a pm or a call with time you have available and perhaps we can link up for a run.

Hey Nikki,

Great race! It souds like a fun time. I signed up for this race a long time ago to keep myself motivated through the winter,  but I have had an off and on hip thing going on and I didn't want to chance further injury.  I definitely want to do it next year though.  Maybe the 10 k or ...dare I say it.... the half. We'll see!

Congratulations!        Patty

What a neekumpoop I am sometimes!! Joanne, (isis54), i'm sorry i put the other Joanne's screenname in there!! I forgot your screenname and then checked our email list too quick and typed it in.  Duh... Okay, so, I guess you'll have to come to another race and be super-amazing supportive like you were, so i can get it right in my next race report!  what a fixer-upper i am, eh?

Max, i owe it all to you!! I still think about you whenever I do this distance! I remember you not letting me go to a walk. Darn, I wish you were there at mile 5.5! Great race you did with Renee, great photos too! You both are amazing.

Hey Chris!!!!!! I miss you too!!! I promise a PM soon. I got a new JOB!!! WoooHOOOOO. THat last one was stifling!!
