Big pimpin'!

We were looking at renting a cabin on Canyon Lake.  There's plenty to be had.  Would anyone be interested in chipping in?  The rates are VERY reasonable and the more people in, the better.  Let me know ASAP so we know what size cabin to hunt for.

I'M IN!!

I've got a couple calls in to some cabins that sleep between 7 and 14 people.

WOW! $125-225 for and a 2 night minimum?! WOW.

Even with 3 of us thats cheap enough (I'm sure we can get more peeps though).

How about one with a hot tub? Ya know, recovery. Excellent work Laurie, so pretty...I can't wait to be back in TX!

Derek, I too would prefer to leave the gardening implements out if it. If you and Laurie want to hoe for me, please come by THIS weekend. For the 25th, plain old athletic support will be fine.

As for a cabin. Did someone say CABIN??!!??! YEEEEE-HAW!!! I mean yes. And I may bring a friend, a female athletic supporter. (Now everyone is scratching their heads. I love it.) Haven't squared that away yet. So if there were a wee little room somehwere with two twin beds, I call DIBS. Derek & Laurie, PM me if we need to attend to any details regarding payment. For the ROOM, people, for the ROOM!

And for anyone traveling to the event from a location lacking a Freebird's, I will pick some up on Friday 1pm-ish when I take off from Houston and lovingly pack them in my car. Just let me know your orders closer to that time so I won't lose them. And remember our deal Haley. there is a massage involved.

Screw the Best Western!

I just reserved at Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages one cabin for $69 a night for my wife and I and our two kids. They say it's a couple of miles from the race Start.

They still have quite a few available, so give them a call.

Thanks for the tip, Tty it cajun style!

Um....I reserved at the "host hotel" which is the Maricopa Lodge....5 miles from the race start.  If you guys are serious about a cabin, especially one that is closer, I'd DEFINITELY be interested.   I'm only staying one night (Friday) but would be happy to chip in whatever my portion would be for the two-night minimum.

YAY!! I'm excited too! Go ahead and get one of the bigger ones, we'll need the room if we have at least 7, it'll still be very cheap.

Too bad about the pool and hot tub.

Okay.  I've got 2 houses that are available that weekend.  Look at these and let me know what you guys think.

http://www.scenicriverprop.com/h2.html
This one sleeps 12 and is 410.00/night.  There are 8 twin beds and 2 queen beds.

http://www.scenicriverprop.com/hd-2.html
This one sleeps 14 and is 500/night.  It looks like the same layout of beds, but has a foosball table.

both look about the same distance from the lake.  I guess what I need to know now is who is staying Friday and who is staying Friday and Saturday night.  I need to know by this evening so I can make the reservations.

I can just pee and fart in the bathtub to simulate a hot tub.  I'd do that for you.

Friday and Saturday.

4 twin beds in a room! Looks like summer camp!

Celeste, take it easy on the beans.

Anyone have a preference?

So, Derek has gone from jockstrap ho to jacuzzi-fart-master.  Nice.

Either house is cool with me.  I'll only be there Friday night.  How far are these from the race site?

hmmm, either one looks fine, so go for the cheaper of the two is my vote!

I have to confirm with my roommate, er, athletic supporter tonight, but if she says yes then it's two of us for Friday night only.

The thing is, when she comes out to support me in a race, wich is actually a kinda boring and thankless task for a non-triathlete who only does it because she loves me, i don't make her PAY for stuff too. I can cover both of us for one night. About twice the price of a hotel for me then... but probably worth it all the same!

Actually it will be awesome to have a place to come back and shower and nap before the drive back to Houston. Last race i did, come to think of it, I must have driven the whole way caked in sweat and whatever was growing in the Blanco River! And I stopped to sleep in my car at the gas stations. This will be much better.

And the company: INCOMPARABLE!

Sal, please try to convince your kids that the people who come in towards the END of the race are the COOLEST. I mean, how hard is it to exercise really hard for just a couple of hours? THOSE folks have been exercising really hard for about TWICE as long as those show-offs that did it the fast way! And it's WAY hotter out when they finish than when those fast people finish. In fact, those slow people are flat out AMAZING, and you are really lucky that some of them happen to be your friends!!!

(That would be a real help to some of us who put the "B" in "BT." Thanks. )

If Celeste is eating beans, and Derek is working up a good amount of gas to run the jacuzzi, please make sure I am not rooming with either!

(Actually, I'll room with whoever, or with no one, or with everyone...I have no sense of smell, so dirty, farting triathletes are no bother to me!)

Did I hear someone say "Bill, you have Saturday off. Why not take Friday off and drive up for some Jockstrappping Duties and then drive back to Beaumont Saturday for your shift Sunday morning?"

That's what it sounded like....

WOO-HOO!  Derek AND Bill for jockstrapping! (and I do mean STRAPPING!  Rowr!)

I'm going to call and book the cheaper cabin tomorrow.  Those of you that want to crash after the race are more than welcome to.

according to YahooMaps, the cabin is about 9 miles away from the start.  The host hotel is 6 miles away.  I think we'll be fine.
