Comments:

I finished first in the swim in my wave by well over 3 minutes. That was a shocker for sure. I had a really slow wave. It was the last wave of the day, and we were allowed to sign up for any time that we wanted to.
What would you do differently?:

I would try to draft more as I pass people. That comes with time though. I haven't had the opportunity to draft much in my pool when I do workouts because often I am the only one there or else the person beside me is way too good for me to even try to follow.

Comments:

The top three places were all in the same wave and they finished within 11 seconds of each other. I was only 17 seconds away from winning the whole race. I felt like I ran pretty strong. Felt a sideache after peaking a big hill, but it eventually subsided. The water stations didn't have water.
What would you do differently?:

I would have pressed harder on the downhill portion and during the long straightaway before the finish.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not having anyone there to push me. I finished 15 minutes ahead of the second place person in my wave.

Event comments:

I liked the race but the finish was very anticlimatic. My first biathlon. Not too bad of a start to my multisport racing career. The shirt is awesome!

Wow!  Sub 1:30s over an 800 yd. distance!  I'm just trying to get there on my 100 yd intervals.

Nice race!  Good luck with your training...

(I'm a BYU grad as well as several other BTer's.  There are a couple folks south of Point of the Mountain...UTTriman, runningfoo).

Congrats! That's a kick butt pace!!! I wish I could swim that fast. You'll find that in a typical tri you'll probably be top 5% at that pace. Your run was certainly not bad, either. 7:04 is very respectable! Wait for me at the Icebreaker finish line!

Some of us are ex-Utes but we aren't that bad either.

(Good game so far tonight . . . hate to see you guys have to loose this one!)

And great race again btw.
