Run
Comments: Was doing fine till mile 20....my left hip flexor developed a problem where I had to run walk/run to ease the pain. Very bad, I just could not lift my left leg any more, even walking was painful... That went on for about 5 miles....all my other body parts held up, except this one....it cratered my finish time by about 20-25 minutes........I still shuffled/ran the last 2 miles to the finish, but I really wanted to walk...stiff upper lip thing ;-) What would you do differently?: More long run mileage is needed....I need to get over the 20 mile mark more often if I do this again. My longest run was 20+ miles, but most of my runs were sub 17 miles..... Post race
Warm down: Get into my wife's car as fast as I could, still raining hard and cold..... What limited your ability to perform faster: Long run mileage.....my cardio vascular health is excellent, I was never tired, or winded.... my biomechanics are mixed at best.....need to strengthen with more long running..... Event comments: Well organized, no complaints. 2,051 registered runners, only 1,438 finishers within the cut off 5.5 hrs Last updated: 2006-03-05 12:00 AM
