I plan to be at the breakfast.  Then I'm going down to the race site to check out the transition.  I also plan to drive the bike course, so if anyone wants to see the course, let me know.

I hope you have four wheel drive!! haha Just kidding. I live here in Lubbock and have been training on the course, lucky me. It is an awesome course, you'll love it. Bombing down the hills is the greatest. The hills on the run, on the other hand, suuuuuck!! Anyway, thought I would put in my 2 cents. Good luck everyone, see you at the race.

Well ~ I'm in.......... Signed up Saturday night ~ not sure what I was thinking.....I must have been dazed and confused.

Two of my local tri buds are going so I decided to tag along... I should know better than to follow them.....

I guess it will make Vineman seem easy this year. I definately don't have enough running miledge in (due to injury) so the run is going to be PAINFUL.....

Should be FUN!!!

Does anybody know/understand the "slot awards"?

Is this a lottery or based on finish? I saw a couple of posts on the BSLT messageboard, but I can't seem to find anything explaing what it all means. From the posts, it looks like you have to attend the dinner to get the slot award. I wasn't planning to attend, but maybe it would be a good idea?! Any thoughts?

From the Post:

"Finally, we have determined how the 5 slots per race(Canada, Wisconsin, Florida) will be awarded. When you go to packet pickup you will declare which race you would like to compete in. Then the names will drawn, at random, at the awards ceremony after slots for Kona, Clearwater are awarded. You must be present to win. This same system was used at Eagleman last weekend and worked well. The only exception to the way they did it and the way we are doing it is they drew the names before the awards ceremony actually began. They have their awards at the race site and it actually started before all finishers were done. With our awards ceremony done well after the last finisher, all declared names for an IMNA slot will have the opportunity to be present at the awards. Sorry for delay on this but we have been laboring over this for sometime and never could seem to get a fair way to do it. With only 5 slots we are limited on how it can be done. But the above method seems to be the most fair. Thanks for your interest in Buffalo Springs 70.3, Mike Greer"

A question for all the Buffalo Springs vets.......

I have a regular Atmos helmet and an LG Rocket Aero Helmet. I am not sure whic one to wear for the race. The 20mph winds are leaning me towards the aero, but I was curious to see what the opinions were

Thanks!

It's in the 100's this week, and should be well into the 90's on race day.  I've got an aero helmet and giro pneumo.  I'm wearing the pneumo.  The benefit of not overheating outweighs the aero benefit.

I've got a request. I'm staying at the La Quinta near the south west corner of the Texas Tech campus. I don't really feel like making my lovely wife crawl out of bed at 4:30 to get to the race site 2 hours before I start.

Can anybody give my bike and me a ride that morning?
