Subject: RE: Watch Fetishists?Oooooh watches ;- ) - my second favourite shopping after Tri stuff...
Currently wearing Rolex GMT Master II (my favourite travelling watch as it does two time zones ), also have a Panerai Luminor Marina Auto and a Radomir 8-day, a rose gold IWC Portuguese Moon Phase, a Lange & Sohne One and an Omega Seamaster. My wife told me that if I wanted a new car then some of the watches would have to go. Hence still driving a 6 year old car.
Why? I don't think guys should wear jewellrey apart from a watch and a wedding ring, my clothes tend to be quite staid for work (suits (dark blue or grey ), shirts (white or pastels ), ties (plain or slight pattern ), shoes (black ) ) and pleasure (preppy as it comes ) and so my watch is a way for me to show my character. Aditionally I love the precision mechanical side to it all, and the fact that outside of the Rolex most people have never heard of the above or would have any idea.
On a separate issue, a friend's new boyfriend spotted my Panerai the other day and commented saying that he had one too. I later found out that what he had was a fake, not just any fake but one that he's actually paid a couple of hundred for. Why? I just don't get it. Apparently he has bought enough expensive fakes to buy himself a nice real one. Then again, maybe non-horologists don't understand me either. |
