Pre-race routine:

Ate oatmeal and drank some coffee in the car to the race. Got stuck in traffic for 40 minutes from the Pike exit to the parking lot. Didn't get to the race until 8ish. Meet up with a friend in front of D and D but missed the other BTers. Maybe another time.
Event warmup:

Nothing, and I should have done something.
Run
  • 2h 11m 13s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great and strong throughout the run. After mile 9 I was trying for negative splits. The fastest miles I ran was the last one, but I didn't get a split, and between miles 10 and 11 about 9:30. My girlfiend started opening it up at the end and it killed me for the last 200 yards or so. I was dying and I felt like I was going to throw up when I crossed the finished. HOwever, I kept everything down and set a PB in distance and time.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I felt strong and good all the way to the last 200 yards where I was pushed by my girlfriend to give it all I had left. Negative splits towards the end which made my day when we started taking time off our pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the Expo looking for our friend. Ate a bagel and had two mineral water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My speed. Maybe next year try to shave off 5-10 mintues and possible break the 2 hour mark. Maybe.

Event comments:

I wished we left early and didn't get stuck in traffic. Otherwise it was a great race and I'm alittle bummed I didn't get to meet up with other BTers. There is always the next race. :)

Congrats on the PB!

We were INSIDE the DD til about 8:08 according to KathyG's RR. We'd have recognized you if you were wearing your cap and had your wetsuit pulled down.

Sorry we missed you! Plenty of more events upcoming where BT'ers will be in the upcoming tri season....see you around!

"I was dying and I felt like I was going to throw up when I crossed the finished." That’s what I like to hear! Great effort!!!

Sorry we missed you as well, JP. There will be plenty of opportunities this season though--lookin' forward to it!

Congrats on the PB!  Too bad we didn't get a chance to hook up with you.  Like May said, if you had your wetsuit on, we would have recognized you!
