Yup, the house is fully framed, roof is going on today, windows are in, they are starting plumbing rough-in and will start laying out the electric either at the end of this week or the beginning of next. Definitely nice to look down the hill and see progress after all the work to get the lot buildable and get the drawings through the county!

Enjoy the pics (taken with a crappy camera, sorry) ........

Wow, looks like it will be an attractive house! (and big, as Autumn said) I bet you're getting antsy to have the thing done already!

you need to get in photoshop and add captions like "trainer here" or "weights over there."

What a diff a couple weeks makes, eh?

I love the basement entrance.  I had one in my house growing up.  Wish I had one now.

I do have the 'lookout' basement like you have and it is great to have all those windows to look out at the woods and bike path behind our house.  You'll love it.  Until you are going to bed at night after an exhausting day and you look out your bedroom window and one of the kids left a light on in the basement and you can see it and you want to just go to bed but you feel like you should go turn it off especially since you use hi-wattage bulbs to make your basement really bright so as you are heading downstairs you remember the 2 hour trainer ride you did earlier thanks to the renewed burning in your thighs and that distracts you from the stairs and you slip the last three steps to the next landing and almost break your freaking leg.

I've, um, heard that can be an issue.

yes........but the basement and garage or your domains!

Tip:  if you're not already doing it, while your house is at this stage get the guys to stub in a gas line to the garage for the heater you will eventually talk your wife into!  It'll save you time later and she probably won't even notice it.

Make sure you make one of the rooms a workout room.  Put bikes, trainers, TV on the wall with a DVD players.  you know, the works.

Not THAT big, in fact fairly small as far as the neighborhood goes - 2,700 s.f. with an unfinished basement.

I'll be finishing the basement over the next six months or so after moving in. Basement will get all the tri/riding gear and have the trainer set-up in it. Yes, that is a "morning room" on the back side of the house with the casement windows and the french doors. But it's on the North side of the house .... just what we had to work with.

Gonna have to talk to the architect and bit-h at him for doing something like that ........ hold on, let me take care of that.

(Me as owner) "Hey Rick!!"

(Me as architect) Um ... yeah?

"What the heck were you thinking???"

Sorry, just what I had to work with on the lot ..... won't let it happen again.

"You better not, or no more commissions for you!"

Most of the houses built in the neighborhood over the last 8 years or so have been in the 6,000 + s.f. range on bigger lots. Ours is only an acre, there are a lot of 2 and 3 acre lots in the neighborhood. Oh well, maybe one day when we are making money.

Oh, and we should be able to get in (my guess) somewhere around June. Baby three is pushing on the wife's sit-bones, so it looks like we are pretty close to bringing him into the world (she's even hinting in the next day or so but I'm thinking not for a week or so). That gives us a few months for them to finish the work before we'll feel like moving everything again.

Looks like we're racing on baby #3.  My wife is sooooo ready.  Due date not until 4/2 but the induction is scheduled for 3/27 if she doesn't pop before that.  We think the baby is big.  Last one was over 9 lbs and she thinks this one will be bigger.  Just picked up a snappy new digital camera last weekend so I can pics up in COJ  emailed to family right away!

Well, my house is 1400 ft2 and I feel like it's HUGE!!! But it's just my husband and I and two big dogs. If it weren't for the dogs, I'd feel overwhelmed by the size of the house.

Congrats on the baby and the house! What an exciting time for you!!!

They have already told her that she will not be allowed to go over 40 weeks no matter what. She has had two previous c-sections and the whole reason we went to the current mid-wife practice we are at is that they will give her a shot a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section). But the little guy is getting big, and my wife is small (5'-0").

She'll be bummed if she can't have it natural, but she has resigned herself to the fact that might not happen if he doesn't come soon.

Oh, our due date is my birthday, April 15.
