Pre-race routine:

Hydrated up until two hours before the race. Had appropriate carb to protein mix.

Event warmup:

Jogged the course 45 minutes prior to race, stretched, especially IT band and calves.

Kept my HR at 180 during the race. Pushed, but had enough at the end to continue at same pace.

Warm down:

Walked, stretched, drank my endurox r4, then went to receive my award at the local pub.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fear of not having enough for the finish. I think I could boost it up just a tad.

Event comments:

I cut two minutes and 20 seconds off of last years race. YAHOOOOO!!!!!!

Wow, great race Evelyn! That pace is just about the maximum I could probably sustain for a 5K race. Sounds like we are at the same level as far as race speed goes. I'll come down to that Litchfield race in June and you can kick my butt! You should be really proud, that is quite a commendable time!

I just got back from my Duathlon, I don't have all the race totals yet, but it was a fun day!

Nice run..Im especially impressed since you "jogged" the whole course 45 minutes before the race...once is usually about all I can handle...

Great run! I am looking forward to times like those some day in the not too distant future. Finally broke 30 minutes on the 5k in my triathlon! Hope to drop another couple by the end of the summer, but 24 is outstanding!
