Total Time = 1h 00m 50s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 7/14
Pre-race routine:

Get number, set up bike, transition area. Long line for numbers for pre-registered while there was no line for those registering, Ironic!
Event warmup:

Bike 5 minutes, jog 5 minutes, quick 50 yard swim.
Swim
  • 07m 43s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good siwm, about 1-1/2 minutes faster than same race in 2004.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

Good start. No problems. There are several turns at the start so it isn't easy to get up to speed and get shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 28m 55s
  • 10 miles
  • 20.75 mile/hr
Comments:

Took the first lap easy. It takes a while for my legs to get going. It was hard not to draft. If I slowed down according to the rules, more people would pass me and I couldn't get around slower riders. It was very narrow. Great 2nd lap. Passed a lot of people.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

Shoe fell off bike coming into transition. Luckily a friend was there to retrieve it.
What would you do differently?:

Not lose shoe. Not put on Garmin during race.
Run
  • 21m 30s
  • 2.6 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. My goal was to take it easy and keep an 8:30 pace. My Garmin wasn't giving good readings but I did a pretty good job until the last .5 miles when I saw a friend ahead of me so I sped up. Didn't quite catch him but I could have if I was pushing harder. I didn't want to sprint the last 100 yards for fear of injury before St. Anthony's next week.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, get refreshements.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I wasn't going all out on the run. I was supposed to go at 85% but probably did more.

Event comments:

Check in was very slow. They had 2 people checking people for pre-registered and 1 for not registered. There was no line at the not registered.

You came in about 15 seconds aheasd of me. I looked at my swim time and had 1:30 better than same race last year, but I was really upset with my T1 (about 1 minute longer). Then I got to thinking and I believe they moved the start line to T1 to the swim exit. This gives a better estimation of the swim time. So I took my 1:30 improvement to be about 30 seconds better swim.

Glad to see you are improving your swim time. That water is really disgusting!! Hope to see you at one of these local races.

Nice job on this race!   You killed it on the swim...In fact, all 3 lets look solid.  I wanted to come watch, but took the am to sleep in for once   The water IS nasty....but I'd almost venture to say CB Smith park is worse (and incudes snakes).
