Kido - 2012-11-17 12:29 AMI plan to be at the swim tomorrow. I hope to run into some of you. On a side note, I happen to be the guy Mike Riley was teasing at the athlete dinner tonight. I was surprised as hell when I heard my name called out! Too crazy.
. What,d he say? Tell us!

I met Patrick at the Tribe meet-up! It was awesome being in the presence of such greatness! I ambushed him with picture, he never knew what hit him.

I'm planning to race next year. The host hotel doesn't have microwaves, so I'm looking for a hotel, condo, house that close and has a fridge and microwave. Any recommendations for accommodations? Do you like where you're staying (or have a place to stay away from)? Thanks!!!!!!

Wow was that water cold. Took my breath away for the first couple minutes and then I got used to it. I am a little worried about being cold coming out of the water and then getting on the bike in 50 degree air. I think I will take the extra time and put on a long sleeve top. I may be regretting it by mile 70 but I don't want to freeze for the first three plus hours......

Anyone else thinking this way?

I'm going with arm warmers and a bike jersey over my tri top...I'm also wearing socks and throw-away gloves. If I get hot, I'll put my arm warmers in my jersey pockets and stash them both in my special needs bag if I feel the need. The water was chilly, but after about 50m it felt fine...I know that putting on all my bear gear/compression sleeves with numb hands will be a challenge, but I'm not worried about a few minutes lost in transition...

Have a great race!

I swam in TTL last Saturday then rode right after. I was cold so I put on a jacket but regretted it by mile 10. Tomorrow I'm going with arm warmers and a dry jersey and just expect to be chilly for a while.

Thanks for the info Matt!

I'm going to wait until Saturday to re-post the list so that I can hopefully get any and all necessary changes entered at once.

Thanks for doing this - Bill- 1593 - sporting a Bikeway Back/Yellow kit . Good luck to all!

Missed everyone at the swim this morning, water was cold initially then fine once I got moving. Really not much colder than spring lake temps in MN. I've got some arm warmers that are stretchy, loose wool sock material that I'm going to use for the first lap then either ditch or leave in my SN bag.

For the one that asked about the hotel, I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott which is about two blocks further from the start than the host hotel. Nice room, they brought us a fridge and microwave, and less $ than the host hotel.

Hey heads up for you guys and gals friends and family.. Having watched a ton of ironman on my phone and trying to track a ton of people got painful, so I created a little page to help out, figured would help others. You select the race and put in bib numbers and names/nicknames if u want to associate and it will build a custom personal page with links to each tracker or a page showing all trackers (u choose which to use)It is here http://www.fexycoaching.com/track/

I'm staying at the Marriott Residence Inn-Tempe that's next to Arizona Mills Mall. It has a full kitchen. It's about 3.5 miles from the race site and a very easy drive.

Cheap way to keep warm early on the bike is put a gallon ziplock up your jersey in the front, then ditch it when you warm up at aid station. It acts somewhat like a vest keeping your core warm and only costs pennies.

Have a great day out there tomorrow BTers!

Sorry to intrude as I am not racing tomorrow. Instead, I will be volunteering at the bike aid station (Hawaii themed!) at the Beeline and Shea turn around point from 12-5 and as a finish line catcher from 8-midnight. Monday, my wife and I will be registering for IMAZ 2013...our first! Following your training and preparations over the last year has been extremely motivating and moving. I would wish each of you good luck, but you have been so diligent in your training, I will instead say, trust your training, follow your plan, and you will each do great! Should I be fortunate enough to provide hydration, nutrition, or needed encouragement, or catch you as you cross the finish line to either become an Ironman for the first time or once again, I will be greatly honored. NOW, get a good night sleep so you are rested as you prepare for battle tomorrow! YOU ALL ROCK!!!!!

What a busy week, but I really enjoyed the get together Thursday night and then seeing some of you at the swim this morning. Wow! For this Texas girl, the initial shock of the cold water was brutal. I just had to move right away and keep moving. Took me a little bit to get comfortable and settle in, but after a couple of minutes it wasn't too bad. I will be changing into dry clothes with arm warmers for the bike. Everyone have a great race and have fun. I hope to see several of you out on the course.

Okay, I *think* I've made all the changes that I can at the moment.

Many thanks to everyone for the extra info - and my apologies to those that I either screwed up or forgot... I'm gonna blame Tony for any mistakes even though I really have no valid reason for it.

I'm volunteering this year, so I can register for next year. I'm at the Quality Inn on N. Scottsdale Rd, about 1/2 a mile North of Tempe Town Lake & 2.5 miles away from Transition. My room is  a "King Bed Suite." It has a small fridge & microwave. I booked this room way back in March for $49/night. They also have rooms with a full kitchen for a little bit more. But, I don't remember how much more those rooms were.

Next year I'm renting a house. Already got it reserved. I used vrbo.com to find the rental house
