After scoring a touchdown against the New York Jets (Plaxico Burres' team), Stevie Johnson did a rather amusing (in my opinion) end zone dance where he mimicked Plaxico Burres shooting himself in the leg. He then began to mimic a Jet (the name of the opposing team) in flight and soon crashes. Apparently the New York Jets found it insulting...

I'm not necessarily condoning his behavior; however, there is no doubt in my mind Johnson had no thought of the 9/11 victims. The opposing team was the JETS. He was obviously taking a stab at the team. How did the New York Jets go from that end zone dance to 9/11 victims?!!

The dude cost his team the game. It was obviously a planned act which makes it more amazing and selfish. The word punk comes to mind for me.

Your post makes it sound like the Jets released an official statement condemning the dance and relating it to 9/11 when really, it was one player commenting on the behavior of another player. I somewhere today that Johnson apologized to Plaxico after the game, and rightly so.

When did it become ok to mock another player in your touchdown dance? How many SuperBowl winning catches has Johnson made, I wonder?

It was dumb - but I see NFL players do dumb stuff none stop in games.

Any jump to the 9/11 stuff is a joke, people need to stop reading things into dumb actions.

Is this any worse than a player hitting a guy after the whistle or when they are out of bounds, a bad defensive pass interference, or other stupid things players do? NO

And I hate both those teams!

If you shoot yourself in the leg in a night club, I am pretty much ok with you being mocked anytime. You deserve it.

That said, the guy is an idiot. Everyone knows going to the ground draws a penalty and everyone should also know you can make gun motions during a celbration. Any player who draws a penalty during a TD celebration should be looking forward to a massive fine from their own team.

Stevie Johnson: C'mon man!

Worse yet were the two passes which hit him directly in the hands and he summarily dropped.

He should be prosecuted for assaulting other people's feelings.

Some of the "celebrations" in the NFL have gotten ridiculous. Many are not even for TDs.  "Look at how great I am, I got a first down!"  "Look at me, I caught a football."  I don't get that.  Plus it is awesome to see them drop a football the next play.

Just when I think Stevie Johnson can't bring more attention to himself in blowing a game, he pulls a stunt like this... and totally redeems himself.

And they're down by 21 points in the 3rd quarter and play on a 3-8 team? Something like that?

As a Jets fan, I'd like to thank him for this ^^^^^^^ and his stupidity in the end zone single handedly sabotaging his team's chance to win a game they probably should have.

Oh and off topic, that was the worst 4 TD game you will ever see by a QB. I feel better now...at least til Sunday at 1pm.

LeBron James did the same TD dance at a charity game the other day and got booed!

He just doesn't get PR at all.
