Comments:

Again another nasty headwind.

Last year's time was 36:35.
2:08 improvement
What would you do differently?:

I need more time on the bike. I think that my bike negatively affected my run.

I should have pedaled down the first hill instead of coasting. Would pedaling down at 32mph instead of coasting at 30 have made the difference between a 6th place finish and a 4th place finish?
Transition 2
  • 00m 20s
Comments:

Fumbled with the sunglasses and right shoe.
What would you do differently?:

????
Run
  • 19m 10s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

I petered out in the end and got passed twice in the last 200 yd. This meant the difference between 4th and 6th place overall; a 9 second difference.

Last year's time was 19:11
a whopping 1 second improvement.
What would you do differently?:

I need to train more on the bike. I really think that the impediment to my run in this race was my bike fitness.

I need to run tired more. I need to build my speed work to total 3 miles and then begin to decrease times on my intervals.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around. Visit. Shower.

Great to see GJ50. Wish I had more time to visit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think the bike segment needs work.

Event comments:

Excellent race. It was nice that the weather warmed quickly.

I was very happy with my improvements from last year. I was around 3:30 faster overall.

Nice!  Can you teach me to do transitions that fast?  Great bike time, especially with that wind!

The more I analyze and play the what if game, the more I think I need to modify my race report.

What if I had pedaled down the first long downhill at 32mph instead of coasting at 30?

Oh! I better quit the "what if?" game.

My computer registered the distance as 12.4 miles, not 13 as is listed as the official distance. I am still happy with my speed though.
