Expert  1139    Austin |  Subject: Pj0rn! Couldn't resist!Well I couldn't resist the sale, it was too tempting. Sram Rival, Mavic Aksium wheels. The bars are a little smaller in diameter than I like, so they may be the first upgrade. Anyone have an experience with carbon bars? I've had 2 sets of FSA Carbon bars snap. Never had a stem or fork fail and I have heard that carbon stems are not really carbon as they are more carbon wrapped aluminum. |

I've seen way more stories about carbon bars breaking than frame or fork failure. I guess my other worry would be if I lay the bike down the most likely thing to hit the deck are the handle bars.
I like the Ergonova's, the aluminum version look to have a smaller "shelf" across the top of the bars than compared to the carbon ones. Wheels are definitely in the picture in a couple of months, it looks like brand new 404's are running relatively cheap on ebay now that Zipp has fully switched over to the carbon clinchers. |

They're 44's which seemed a little wide after the first ride when on the hoods, but I loved the position in the drops so I figure I'll get used to it. Expert 1139 Austin | Subject: RE: Pj0rn! Couldn't resist! Nice wheels! I'm trying to decide if I want to be a "weight weenie" and throw on some Ksyrium SLs or if I should spend a little more and put on some 404s. I'm leaning towards the Zipps since it is supposed to be an "aero" bike. |
