Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5am without an alarm, had a pb&j bagel. I had about an hour to kill, so I watched some tv. and did some massage with my tp massage ball. I picked up my two friends and headed off.
Event warmup:

I didn't do much of a warmup, except walking to the subway from the Spectrum, and walking to the 8mile line up from the subway ride. I looked for any familiar faces, but trying to find someone in a sea of 15,300 runners, is nearly impossible.

Comments:

I stuck to my plan, running the correct pace and the target HR zones.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing, I walked around trying to locate my wife and kids.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

constantly dodging runners who were probably lined up incorrectly, and should have been lined up towards the back. I am not a fast runner by any means, but I had to pass way to many people. If I run this race next year, I will line up at the 7min mile pace line. Hopefully, everybody will do the same and lineup according to their ability.

Event comments:

Good race, but this course can't really handle it. I honestly think that I could have shaved off close to 2 minutes off my time, if I didn't have to pass so many people, or if I had lined up near the 7min mile pace line.

I stuck to my plan, and set the pace for my two friends. I ran the first3 miles at a 9min pace(hr in the mid 140's). The second 3 miles, were ran at 8:50 pace. I told my friends that I would pick it up at mile 7 shooting for about an 8:30 pace, and the last 2 miles, I would run about 8 min miles. Well, everything went exactly to my plan.
Course: Straight shot, mostly downhill, with a couple of turns around City Hall. Very crowded course due to 15,000 runners!

Congrats on a great run Bryan!  Fun with just you and 15,000+ of your closest friends, huh?

Hope your shoulder comes around this summer so you have the chance to use your running in some tris this season.

Yeah, a friend of mine who was spectating said he saw a number of people on cell phones. Good thing I didn't see 'em, I woulda thrashed 'em.

And you are right about the passing people. My coworker had almost a minute faster chiptime, but I still beat him by close to four minutes guntime. I ran sidewalk for the first two-three miles.

Did anyone else see someone with a BT sign around mile 8 or 9?!?! I may have been seeing things....
