FIRM
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 14m 29s
Overall Rank = 81/120
Age Group = Female U19
Age Group Rank = 2/3
Pre-race routine:

Woke up late, eat a scrambled eggs, packed my bag with my gear, put in the car along with my Mom's stuff and our bikes and off we went.
Event warmup:

I just sat down and stretched my arms and talked to other people.
Swim
  • 07m 7s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt kind of nervous. Looking ahead I could see the deep section of the pool and I saw the guy in front of me and saw the difference between him and the deepth of the pool it weirded me out. The pool got to 9 feet. I got in the pool and off I went. I passed a bunch of people and only one person passed me.
What would you do differently?:

Try turning around faster at ends. I hope to join the swim team next Fall.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I did my transtion pretty fast and better than I have in the past. They do not time transtions so my T1 is in my bike time.
What would you do differently?:

Try keep balance better when putting on my bike shoes.
Bike
  • 35m 7s
  • 8.8 miles
  • 15.04 mile/hr
Comments:

I passed two or three people, but one passed me back and I passed him for good on the run. I think I went pretty fast for me. I had fun and felt good riding.
What would you do differently?:

Drink something on the bike...need to practice drinking while riding.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 time in run. I slipped on my running shoes and didn't put on my socks because I thought it would slow me down. My legs felt good of the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Put on socks.
Run
  • 32m 14s
  • 3.35 miles
  • 09m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

It was pretty good. I got some comments from older people like ...wow you are only 11 that is impressive! It made me feel good. I thought my pacing was to slow, but I worried I'd run out energy. I didn't know where I was or how much longer I had to go. Saw my parents and sprinted to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Start sprinting sooner so I can beat my Mom. I'd wear socks on the run as I have 5 blisters on my feet.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and had some water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I hadn't do this distance before all together. I didn't know how I'd feel and how fast I could go. I think I can probably go faster next time.

Event comments:

I'm happy with how I did. It was fun to place second in my AG and next time I hope get faster. I found out my Mom beat me by only 4 seconds...how weird is that. I was happy because I thought I'd lose to her by 1-2 minutes.

Wow!  A race report!  Awesome job.  You're going to beat me any time.

I'd take my time putting on socks to get comfortable.  Think about it, it's going to take a few seconds to put on some socks, and you may be able to run 15-30 sec faster each mile.  Lots to learn in transition.

Wow, what a great race.  You are doing just awesome for 11 years old.  The good thing is you are just going to get faster and more comfortable every year.  Just keep making it fun, and this will be something you'll enjoy doing for the rest of your life!  You rock Emily!  I'm going to get your autograph now before you become famous!
