Thought I'd get a thread going for this one.  I'm looking forward to this sprint.  It's my main race preparation for Boise 70.3 in June.

Who else is signed up for MHST?

I'm in too. I'm really looking forward to this one.

This will be the one-year anniversary of my first triathlon (MHST).

I ride my bike past Uvas Reservoir about once a week or so. The water level is really low right now. Hopefully, we'll get some spring storms rolling through soon. Otherwise, it's going to be a long run up to T1!

Boise sounds like fun. Maybe someday for me...

Best of luck to everybody!

I have also signed up for this tri. I am training a much as I can. I am also going to participate in the San Jose Alamden Lake sprint tri next month, this one has a shorter swim and shorter run. This will be a good practice for the Morgan Hill tri and also a way to see how my training is coming a long. Good luck to everyone.

Cool. I'm also doing the SJ Metro Tri (Oly distance) at Almaden Lake in April. The Metro sprint distance tri is a great prep for the MH Sprint Triathlon. I wish the Metro had been in April last year. Good Luck!

You should definitely do it.  The swim is in Uvas Reservoir.  There are some moderate hills throughout the bike and run courses. As long as it doesn't hail like last year, it's a blast. Well, actually, it's fun no matter what the weather is...

You can check out the course maps at:

Good luck!

I am going to do this one again, will be 1 year anniversary of my first tri! I did this last year as my very first tri and I had a blast. It was cold and hail but felt great finishing it.

I'm in too!

Returning triathlete. Did MHST 1995 (my first ever tri) and loved it. Followed it by SJ BUdLight (Olympic) and Wildflower. Then got distracted by other stuff/career/etc and haven't done any until now. Signed up as a way to get back into shape. =)

TOTALLY looking forward to it!

I'm going to do 2 sprints this season and see how the knees feel.

So I rode the Uvas bike route yesterday (15.9 mi). It was a little windy and I was on my Trek 7.4 FX hybrid.

I finished in 1:11, which is purrty slow compared to similar age groupers from 2011 MHST records.

I know I definitely have to improve my engine, but do you think switching to a rode bike would make a big difference in my time??

My hybrid is bone stock (platform pedals, 32mm tires, flat handlebar)

If you're looking for more speed, your road bike is probably a better bet. Try doing another TT on the same route and conditions using your RB, and see what happens. Also, some clip-on aerobars on your RB would definitely help in the wind. Hope all goes well for you in the race!

Thanks Sdswriter

I don't own a road bike (yet! haha) but will see if I can borrow or rent one in the next week.

And I'll try the same trial as you recommended. Stay tuned =)
