I'm good to go as long as I don't have to wear a sports bra.   I sorta usually just let them flap in the breeze.

I still don't understand the mileage dealie.  Is there an advantage to doing extra miles or what?  I can set a goal of 300 for the month and do it in my sleep, or I can go with 1,000 and push a bit.  What is the advantage of either, assuming I meet the goal either way?  I'm basically pretty stupid for a guy girl who deals in math every day!

No sports bras required.

There is no bonus for going over your goal... so if you go 200% on your goal of 300 miles, it will get counted the same as though you rode 301 miles (we've had people injure themselves way overdoing it before).

The goal is just to set a challenging, but reasonable goal. For myself, I'm going to just stick to my training plan and add a little bit to make it a challenge, but not so much that I burn myself out or get injured. In short, nope, no advantage to extra miles. A total beginner, for whom 75 miles in a month is a challenge is no less important to our team than an old pro like yourself cranking out 1000!

OK, so in other words, there is no advantage to setting a high goal and still meeting it though!  I only wonder, because I hate to set it too low and then meet it with a week left.  This is so confusing to me...I'm right in my element!  LOL

We set goals high enough that the other team can't accuse us of sandbagging. We set goals low enough to not cause us to hurt ourselves!

Are you collecting totals Kim?  If so, put me down for 600 miles then.  I can manage that and still get my running and swimming in before IM.

I suppose this means I need to shave my legs more often than once per week!

There is always honor!  Set it to feel proud and motivated when you're done.

oooh, this is going to be fun. Go girls!

And max - don't worry, i shave my legs once a month.  ohhh, the wonders of being asian!

btw - if any of you ladies are curious, that jergens shave minimizing lotion really works. if you use it every day after your shower for a few weeks, you'll notice a difference.  it's the best stuff in the world AND it smells good!  (ok, boys don't want to hear this, but even with pits - last time i went home for xmas i forgot my razor, and on new years eve i wore a tank top.  i reached up to grab something, and my sister grabs my arm, stares at my armpit and says, "where's your razor?  i haven't seen it in the bathroom."  i say, "i forgot it."  she says, "then where is all your hair?"  i say, "jergens baby, jergens."

ok, total tangent done.

Hey Oneword, you do know that there are 3 sports in triathlon.  It's not just about the bike.   I seem to remember you b*tching complaining about being such a horrible swimmer (wasn't there something about you being the world's worst swimmer?)  Maybe if you actually swam instead of spending so much time on your bike, your swim wouldn't be so bad.  Being the strongest cyclist means little if you are DFL on the swim leg

I'd like to do this, even though Max says a ride less than 25 miles doesn't count (and I thought Max liked me!)

Anyway, I need some motivation for riding, and I think this would be cool, can I come play?
