Pre-race routine:

Not so good. I couldn't get my packet on Friday because I had a swim meet so I had to wait in a long line to pick up my packet in the morning. I like having lots of time before my race to walk around and talk to my friends. I hate it when I feel rushed. Mom says I need to just go with the flow sometimes. Anyhow, I ate oatmeal and drank some Propel.
Event warmup:

Swam out to the first buoy(almost) and back.
Swim
  • 06m 35s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 30s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had a really good swim. I got to go off in the first wave so I didn't have to pass a lot of people. The water was perfect and I felt great.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

I threw up in transition again, right in my bike shoe. Slowed me down a little but not too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Try not to barf.
Bike
  • 31m 23s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.12 mile/hr
Comments:

This is one of my favorite bike courses. I felt really good on the bike and was able to stay aero most of the time. I had a girl that kept drafting off me though. I could feel someone back there but I didn't want to turn around and look. When I made the turn around I saw who it was and I tried to keep her off me going back in. I was really mad when I saw she beat my bike split by like 30 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I had a pretty good bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

I had a pretty good transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really
Run
  • 21m 3s
  • 2.6 miles
  • 08m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran the whole thing, so I was pretty happy about that. I was surprised when I saw how fast my run was.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn to run a little faster. My mom said I was shuffling, so I need to open up my stride.
Post race
Warm down:

I just walked around and talked to my friends. This was the first race of the series that I did, so I hadn't seen my friends since October. It was really cool to see everyone again.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing except my light training.

Event comments:

I love Publix Family Fitness Weekend races. They are fun, the awards are cool and I get to see my friends. Can't wait for Ft. Lauderdale!

Awesome race you were fast at everything....that is why you placed first!!

You need to work on barfing aim...not in your bike shoes...maybe your rackmate (just kidding).

You are getting so fast.....

Congrats!!

Emily wishes they had great kid races here like they do in FL you are lucky!

LOL!  Advice doesn't get any better than this!!  Great seeing you again.  Your swim is awesome as usual, but I can't believe how far you've come on the  bike and run!  You're totally amazing.
