How about having a cold Natty Greene ready for me when I'm done with the 100...

First OWS of the season done Saturday.  Must admit, I was wigging out the first 5 minutes.  Could NOT catch my breath, everything that moved was a snake, and was convinced I was going to be chewed up by the boat prop that was 1/2-mile away.

But suddenly, after those 5 minutes, I got in a rhythm, and was able to roll with the small waves, sight on the buoys outside the swim area (yep, breakin' the law), and began to enjoy myself.  Was eager to get on the bike, then the run, as we had a dinner obligation later, so called it done and packed it all up.

Wetsuit checked out okay, nothing rubbing wrong or confining.  Hoping to swim in it again Wednesday (vacation day and massage, yay!)  Really really looking forward to Friday 1pm when we're eastbound for Washington.

Just PLEASE don't forget the body-glide Bill...wetsuit hickies are painful. I forgot it before B2B and had lovely oozing wounds for a few weeks afterwards. It was not quite what I had in mind!

Yep, Lainey drove me out to Ebenezer Saturday and ran at the park while I swam.  She got great pleasure watching me apply BodyGlide everywhere.  It'd be easier to take a shower in it...neck, armpits, shoulders, ankles, tops of feet, bike pressure points, that little spot midback where my trishorts sometimes rub, the usual running spots to prevent bloody shirts, you know how it goes...

the 50 and 100 bike courses are talked about on the site, but not the sprint course. Is it as flat as the other two?

Thanks! We've never been out there. I've developed exercise induced asthma in the past month (were transplants, likely due to the bad allergies) and Im coming back around, but im not ready to climb a ton yet, so flat is good.

Might even be a net loss...

But then, there is the potential for wind.

Count me in for aquabike. Can't run, injured Achilles.

So as Meatloaf once sang "2 out of 3 ain't bad."

Anyone have any bull shark repellent they'd like to share?  As I'll likely be last out of the water, maybe they won't be hungry anymore?

fgump, you can take a small seal with you and when the sharks come for you, you toss them the seal...?

Kind of like a flare for a heat-seaking missle...a decoy!  I like it.  What's the USAT rule about aquatic assistance?

If anyone is interested I created a map of the bike course on the site here.  The one on the FS site was hard for me to see well

Just stay away from Scottie, they tend to navigate towards him.

So I have learned several things from this thread:

  1. Washington NC is flat
  2. fgump does not like bull sharks and is willing to sacrifice a cute little seal for personal gain. He also is OK with violating USAT rules on assistance by swimming WITH a seal strapped to his back.
  3. halfpint attracts sharks. And from other threads we know that he also attracts bees, vicious dogs, etc. Now, I am curious as to what dangerous properties jrj0924 possesses...
