Subject: Shhhhh! that's supposed to be a secret. If you ride hard on the mtb
your road cycling will improve
My opinion only
Road cycling training, as it is practiced by many,
probably most
amateur riders consists of trying to spin at the most efficient cadence.
That's all well and good, and you need to be able to do that, because that's how
you win time trials (essentially what a triathlon bike leg is )
But
That's not all there is to it.......
You will find yourself in a wrong gear
you will find yourself on a hill steeper than it looked
you will find your self on rolling roads
...and the days go by, water rolling under....
what all these things have in common i
s that you will not be immediately able
to have that butter cadence
you will have to improvise and
spin like Wile E. Coyote
or stomp like the
fee-fi-fo-fum
I smell the blood of an Englishman giant
That's what mountain biking (particularly the more technical kind ) can teach you
And don't even get into the handling skills bling-bling....girlfriend :- )
