I'm on my fourth Google Nexus phone and can't get a break from problems with the phones or Sprint service now being intermittent. Wonderful when you need the damn thing for business! grrrrr!

I had AT&T before, and they suck too

I have an EVO 4G as well but Spring sucks out loud.  They told me that I would have an upgrade at 1 year for the primary user, me, and 2 years for the secondary user on a 2 year contract.  I went to get an iPhone and was told I wasn't eligable but I could get one for $650... furk that chit.  I do like the unlimited date.

I've also had c-spire, formerly cellular south, and AT&T and all suck in their own suck way.

I've been trying to figure out which company to (eventually) go with - and it looks like Sprint is the only one that offers unlimited data... is that true?

Apparently, yes.  The other may offer it, but will slow your data speed down to a turtle's pace if you use too much.  BUT, that's still a pretty big number as far as I'm concerned.  I don't really do too much streaming of videos/music or THAT much downloading.

OOOO, then I can call you for free all the time with free sprint to sprint!

I've also had c-spire, formerly cellular south, and AT&T and all suck in their own suck way.

That would be the ONLY issue I ever had.  They changed the "agreement" on us as well.  We were paying for whatever they call the "premier" package to let the primary user get a new phone every year, and the secondary every 2...  Well, it was time to get the wife's new phone (primary) as far as WE were concerned, but they said they ended that (while we STILL paid the premium member price) and she had to wait another year...  We argued untill we got it remedied.  We also had a good friend who worked for them, so he was able to pull some strings.

Also, probably like all phone services.  The "warrentee" program has worthless.  The sell it as "if anything goes wrong - we fix it".  Not really...  They had excuses to not fix anything...  I discovered that if something small breaks, like if a button stops working or something, it's better to go out and just smash the whole thing.  THEN they replace it.  Anything short of complete distruction, they have excuses.

I've had VZW for almost 10 years! (Will be in November/December...can't remember.)

With VZW themselves - have had little to no problems. I'm from an area in Central Illinois - that when I got my phone in '02 - if I wanted national coverage, it was either Verizon or Verizon...so obviously I went with Sprint..JK :-)

Unfortunately, blueeyedbikerbabe, VZW no longer offers unlimited data. However, I think there are other factors to be considered. One - cell coverage in the areas that you will use it in. Chicago-ish, you will be fine - but I'm not sure in the Maple Leaf country?!? Two - will you have the chance to use wi-fi frequently? I have unlimited data, but rarely do I use very much. This past month I didn't even use a quarter of a gig. And that's not saying I don't use data - I just hop on wi-fi whenever I can. (However - do 4G phones use data faster?!?!?!) But also not working full-time - I'm home a good amount of the day and use wi-fi here...

As to the OP. I basically refused to switchover to hubby's Sprint. I did look into AT&T but was able to slide into VZW's unlimited data plan (before they got rid of it)!!

Another vote for VZW.  Stable, solid coverage.

I'm on the "unlimited" data plan, but they're ending that.  Not that it matters, as the real limit of the unlimited plan is 5 GB / month.  I've not gone over 1 GB except for just recently, when I was showing off the 4G by streaming a netflix movie through my phone on 4G.    I'm only on wi-fi at home in the evening.  I'm on 4G all day, and still only use less than 1GB, with multiple email accounts syncing, twitter, map/navigation use, browsing, facebook, etc.

Unlimited is a carryover from when you had 2G ( 1xRTT ) and 3G ( EVDO ).  Those were not much more than dialup speeds.  With 4G speeds of 9 Mbps down / 4.5 Mbps up (not theoretical, but what I've actually measured!), it's an entirely different game, and it's unrealistic to expect it fully unlimited with no caps.

And I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the 4G coverage, at least in the midwest.  Over Memorial Day, we went up to a little cabin in the woods outside Baraboo, WI.  I expected to get little to no coverage at all, yet was actually able to get 4G consistently.
