Elite 3495 SE | Subject: Trybee was a hoot Great to see Jillian, Beckjon, Boxer, and a lot of other smiling faces out there. Setup Ga and Crisp, the RD, are doing a great job with their grassroots races.Jillian will post some pics if she gets a chance I bet. I def recommend this if you want a tough swim to prep for Florida and you can't get to Florida. The bike and run are just like it too. New user 148 Savannah, GA | Subject: RE: Trybee was a hoot I talked to one guy who said it was his new favorite sprint, but also added that he loved rough water swims. It's nice to see a local race getting good feedback - I'm hoping they keep it up so we have another option down here in Savannah. Maybe next year I'll have to race it. And congrats to Jillian and Phat on the podiums! It was fun seeing/meeting you. |

Veteran 347 Atlanta | Subject: RE: Trybee was a hoot How was the water temp? I'm doing a race out in Savannah this weekend (http://www.savannahtriathlon.com/). It's a lake swim so i'm not sure if the water temp will be similar or not.

I did that one last year. It will be warm and dirty unless all this rain really cools things down. I wouldn't do it with any open wounds (which is why I'm out this year). Lots of geese use it for a restroom. |

Member 110 Sylvania, Ga | Subject: RE: Trybee was a hoot I had a great time. This was my first triathlon and my first ocean swim. The swim was a real eye opener. I did pretty bad on the swim, but had a pretty good (for me) bike and run after. It was a lot of fun, I'll be back for another. Has anyone done the mistletoe park race? |

Lots of geese use it for a restroom. I've done this race a number of times. The water isn't the cleanest, but it is tested. I think it gets worse later in the year - they tried it in october one year and had to turn it into a duathlon because the water quality was too low. It will probably be fine for this weekend. As for water temperature...in the past, this race has been run 3 times a year. The april race was always wetsuit legal, but by the 3rd race in june, it seems like typically it's not. The bike is fast and flat (although you'll probably hit some nice winds). The run is two completely flat loops inside the park, and is good for spectators. |

I'll pack the wetsuit just in case. I had a feeling that the bike would be fast, is there any local traffic on the roads? How are the road conditions on the bike course? |

I had a feeling that the bike would be fast, is there any local traffic on the roads? How are the road conditions on the bike course? The website actually has an accurate description of the course that answers some of your questions (http://www.savannahtriathlon.com/triathlon_info). A couple extra points - the pavement in the park when you first leave transition is a little rough, so careful around the first couple corners. It's smooth after that. The course then goes out into open traffic, but there's not very many cars early Sunday morning. One note - there is a slight chance of a big truck passing you, but it's also not very common Sunday mornings (these roads are commonly ridden by the weekly rides in town though, so they're not that dangerous) A chunk of the course is also in a neighborhood that wasn't fully developed, so its nice roads with no traffic (but it seems like there's always a headwind there). Also note that the run course is 3 miles, not 3.1, so you'll be about a minute faster. It's also not shaded, but most of it is around the lake and is nice. |
