Pre-race routine:

woke up ass early, had a luna bar, and walked to the bus stop, where i then caught the bus to the start. then i just walked around and tried not to get cold. talked to craig for a bit, ran into some friends, and then met erin at the portapotties as they called us to the start. woo! oh yeah, had some water.
Event warmup:

no warmup. just...stood around.
Run
  • 1h 05m 38s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 10m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

decent run i suppose, considering i haven't been training. just tried to keep it comfortable. but at times, i'd think, why am i so slow? and i'd change up how i ran a little bit, and i would be faster for a bit, but it's hard to hold because that's not how i normally run. it's not even necessarily harder. but anyway. i'm slow. it's weird to see people pass you, and be like, they look slow, i guess i'm slower than that. hehe :).

i stopped to walk twice i think, sadly enough. not too bad because i think it helped me get through the race better (i.e. i got faster for a little while after the breaks), but i shouldn't have to do that.
What would you do differently?:

um...train more :).
Post race
Warm down:

had a sports massage :).

ate half a banana, some grapes, a slice of bread, some oranges, and a drinkable yogurt.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

hills, mental toughness, lack of training.

Event comments:

the post race activities were nice, they had soooooo much food and so many different kinds, it was nice. but it was laid out strangely and nobody knew where anything was (water was not right after the finish line, the first thing you saw was turkey sausage). that was kind of bad, but i appreciated that there was sooo much nice food.

Hmm... turkey sausage. Any race that serves turkey sausage gets high marks from me.

Good job, Lisa!!!

Finishing is always important regardless of how "slow" you feel. Being slow is temporary, quitting is forever. Way to finish!

Nice race, well done on the 10k.  Now you can start training for a 15 k, then 1/2 mary

It's great to end a race with FOOD waiting close to the finish line....
