Pre-race routine:

Organized the transition area ... laid out shoes, socks, shirt, et al in order of what goes on first being on the top. Took a bathroom break, ate a gel, Cliff bar and enjoyed watching the swim.
Swim
  • 06m 16s
  • 250 yards
  • 02m 31s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 02m 31s
Comments:

What a surprise I had when mounting the bike. I did the usual hop-hop-hop; click in; swing the leg over and go like crazy - however the seat was at least 2" too high!! I could not sit on the bike and stay clicked in. I'd taken the bike late the day before for some derailleur work and I assume the LBS raised the seat to clamp the bike in the stand. Obviously they did not put it back where it was when I brought it in.
What would you do differently?:

Test ride before the event. T1 was just OK
Bike
  • 48m 17s
  • 14 miles
  • 17.40 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Again ... an elementary thing is to check your bike before you ride. I did not and had a big surprise.
Transition 2
  • 01m 52s
What would you do differently?:

Took too much time getting the Garmin off the handlebars
Run
  • 42m 2s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 13m 34s  min/mile
Post race
Warm down:

Paced around and enjoyed the post-race activities. Ate some fruit ... orange slices, bananas, cool water, etc.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

THE RUN

Event comments:

The race location was super nice. The swim was disorganized in that people were way out of position, did not know their start times, etc. I would easily do this race again next year.

Congrats!   Tough break on the seat but overall nice way to come back and finish.  Great race.

Nice race, dorm. Super speedy on the bike even with the seat mishap. Sounds like you had fun anyway. Way to go.
