The only problem I'm having with my 910 is it shuts off when in the quick release on rough roads.  I can wear it on my wrist and it never shuts off but that is a pain in the arse!  I really want to fix this problem so I can place the 910 on my bike for easy viewing.  Although I've heard horror stories about the new firmware causing ows problems. What to do?

mine crashed within a week of installing the new firmware...it wouldn't power on at all even with 100% charge...luckily Garmin was very good about giving me a replacement although I was without the watch for about a week

Most notable to me was the instantaneous pace improved its accuracy but now my average speed in my bike splits all have the same measurement w/o a decimal point.  I'm calling them today.

My new 910xt came with the new firmware so can't say anything about helping or hurting, but will say I've taken mine mountain biking and on the road and never had it turn off.

I had the OWS issue after the patch.  That has somehow fixed self, and now everything seems to be working fine again.

I am still having open water swim issues, it worked fine for me yesterday while swimming for 1.5 hours and then today it went back to the same old crap, calling Garmin AGAIN tomorrow. Everything esle is fine with the watch.

swim pace in the pool is blank.  thank you Garmin!   Seriously, their engineering department is pretty weak.  bothers me that I have bought 3 watches from them.  Their customer service (phone) has gone downhill fast.  If you are asking them to troubleshoot something, they are clueless.  Replacement and set up....they are good at that.  Problem with the device.....toast.

I have not had any problems. My watch only turned off once ever on the bike and not since. I have not had a OWS yet so I would not know. I need to find out before my HIM next month.  Run pace seems better. I did have one problem downloading after the upgrade but called Garmin and they got me taken care of on the phone. No problems since.

I have also noticed that elevation gain and loss are way off, routes that I have run for a couple of years now that are about 200 foot elevation gain and loss now show 900 foot gain and 300 foot loss. This is an out and back run so both should be the same or very close anyways.

The latest firmware update has definitely helped mine.

My pool swims are much more accurate now for distance; however, current pace is sometimes on, sometimes blank. The pace issue happens on OWS as well. It used to work just fine. I have a theory that if I push lap it will then display, but I think it may be lap pace and not overall. Haven't tried this theory yet, though.

Run instant pace is pretty good now, for me anyway.

A problem is that the ant agent is not automatically sending to Garmin Connect. It does send to the Training Center, but not to GC. I've checked the settings and it should be working correctly.

I do sometimes wonder if their QA process includes regression testing.

Sold my 910, but did an update on my Edge 500 and it only messed up things worse.

I just got off the phone with Garmin and they sending me a new watch. If it does the same thing it will be setting at the bottom of the lake in pieces, well maybe not that extreme but I sure will feel like doing it.

My race pace is better than before.  It is still spotty at times.  Before firmware -2-3 min/m swings, now maybe 30 secs - 1min.  I go off of effort now and just reference the garmin.

I went ahead a updated to 2.5 because my it kept shutting down on the bike.  Went out today and rode a route that it has shut down everytime I have rode it in the past.  No shut downs today! Also, the elevation seems to be a lot more accurate. So far so good with updating to 2.5.

You know, they will let you keep your watch while sending the replacement as long as you will provide them with a credit card number.  If the broken one isn't back within a certain amount of time they'll charge your card.  But at least you're not without a watch for a week.

Now, granted, in your case the watch wasn't functioning.  But if you have a semi functional watch and don't want to be without it for the 2-ish weeks it takes to get it swapped out then there in another option.  But you have to specifically ask!

The firmware didn't seem to help anything with mine (I never used instant pace and never had the issue of it shutting off randomly). My most bothersome issue is the files corrupt when I use auto multisport mode so I can't upload the files, or if they do upload they just go missing - no longer on the device or on Garmin Connect.  I've been on the phone with Garmin twice regarding this issue. I've also had issues with the buttons locking up. So I press a button and it just continues with solid long beep.  I often have to completely turn off the device to get this to stop. I'm also on my second device since they've already sent my a replacement ... which has all the same issues.  They said it was the first they heard of the issue with not being able to upload files from auto multisport, which I find really hard to believe since I've talked to other people who have had the same issue. So I've not been able to upload any data from my last 2 races, which is frustrating.  I've very close to telling Garmin to give me my money back to I'll go back to using my 310XT.

My instant pace seems much improved, but now there is an error in the history for lap pace. All bike laps reported as 147 mph and all run laps 00:24/mi. Garmin says they "are working on a fix". Wonder what other problems they will introduce with the next fix.

Pretty happy with my little old 305 here for the run and 500 for the bike!
