Sadly the inaugural year was the only year with the free tickets. I also preferred the finishing area the first year - it was neat to run past roller coasters into the park area to finish. You can get discount tickets for friday night though.

I just bought a new set of Firecrest Zipp 404/808. Can't wait to try them out at this race. I went to the Rev3 Preview CTC held and got lost on the course, so I only know what 20 miles of the course looks like. What does everyone's taper look like from here on out?

Taper?  Huh?

I am a believer in a shorter taper than many would recommend.  I raced my first HIM last Sunday and this week I am planning on running another 17 miles and riding 80-90 miles and having a one more swim of about 3500 yds.  Next week I am planning about 12-14 miles running, 50-60 miles riding and 4000 yds swimming before racing.

This week is somewhat of a recovery week more than a taper week.  My overall volume this week (Sunday-Saturday) will be near 90-95% of my volume as I was leading up to the first race but with a low intensity and with one day off this past Monday.  And next week  I will plan about 60%-70% of my avg. volume during my peak training periods.

I've always tapered for a marathon and I tapered form IM, but last year I signed up for Steelhead which was shortened to 69.1. I don't seem to remember tapering either and I rocked the house.

dont forget to pack your lunch - transition cleared at 6:30AM under penalty of DQ - First HIM wave isnt until 8:25AM and those poor ladies over 40 dont shove off until 9:00AM. Not quite sure how to approach nutrition with that long of a break but still having to get up really early.

I'm one of those "poor ladies over 40" and realize it's going to be a very long day. :(

A 34 page athlete guide makes for some fine reading tonight!

it's funny, I printed the guide today. At IMLP I only read 2 pages and depended on everyone else (to ask questions to -lol). Maybe I'll read it when I wait in line to start for Rev 3! ha!

Yeah, it's a long time to be sitting around.  I'm going to set up my transition and then head back to my hotel room to eat.  No need to hang around on the beach, where I'll just sit and focus on my nerves.

Looks like weather will be beautiful - 77 and sunny!

For REV3 Cedar Point, Is the bike route closed to traffic during the race or are we dodging cars and each other?  Less than a week and can not wait!!!!

LIKE THAT FORECAST!

I like the NEW forecast:

69° Partly Cloudy

Chance of rain: 10%
Wind: NE at 11 mph

I would be more than happy to see the wind be less but that is hardly substantial.
And I too am getting very itchy.

I am itchy as well but I am pretty sure it is the poison ivy I picked up ( and that is why I tell the wife no lawn work June-Sept )

Never mind, looks like you've gotta set up the transition area that morning. New question: do they serve breakfast at Breakers or one of the hotels nearby? My wave doesn't start until 8:50, eek!

I'll be in the same wave with you

I was planning on setting up transition and then heading back to my room to eat (oatmeal or cream of wheat).  Does anyone know if you have to stay on the beach once you set up transition?  Or can we head off to do what we want until our wave starts?  I don't want to sit on that beach for nearly 3 hours.

I remember reading race reports from last year and they didn't have to stay on the beach. The Half folks set up transition then did just what you're going to - head back to the room to eat/relax. I'm in the 9:00 wave and will set up and go back to my campsite to chill.

Safe travels and good luck racing everyone!

Exactly!! We're staying at Camp Sandusky, so I don't have that option.  It would be nice to be able to grab some food somewhere, plus it would mean not getting up as early to eat. After nearly 3 hours, I'm going to be getting hungry again anyway!

My husband is going to loooooove this. It will be a long day for him.

I have short blonde hair and will be in a blue zoot trisuit (maybe full sleeve xterra wetsuit for the swim), pink bike and multiple tattoos (turtle on my right leg and butterfly on my upper back) if anyone wants to say hi!! You'll probably be passing me!!

of few of us on the Full thread discussed getting some BTers together at about 5:00 Saturday afternoon after the athlete meeting/check in before everyone that has family there needs to head off for dinner and bed. Fridays in the Breakers hotel is where we're planning. If anyone has some time for a quick pre race day beer, BS or what not, come on by.

i'll be wearing a black visor and a green tee shirt.

Hi Ladies!

I too am in the 8:50 wave (ick) I haven't figured out where I am staying yet but will probably try to head to the breakers or something to find a place to sit after setting up transition. I stayed at the breakers last year and if I recall there is both a TGI Fridays and a Perkins or something in the hotel that we could probably take advantage of. I'm racing for team RWB so I'll have a Team RWB Tri Top on and Blue 2XU Tri shorts.

for the full - they have racks

for the half (at least the last two years) - you have your gear by your bike (although they have nice wooden individualized bike racks with a small box area to tuck your extra gear (backpack, sweatshirt, etc) in)
