Overcast
Total Time = 55m 20s
Overall Rank = 50/400
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 4/18
Event warmup:

Stretching, short jog and short swim for warm-up.
Swim
  • 15m 50s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

They changed the swim course this year, and may have made it longer than last year. Perhaps it had been too short. However, it also now requires a little more running from the shoreline to T1.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster.
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
What would you do differently?:

Could stand to be a bit more accomplished in removing the wetsuit and putting on the bike shoes. May also want to consider wearing bike/run shirt under wetsuit next time.
Bike
  • 17m 28s
  • 6 miles
  • 20.61 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Do more speed training on the bike in the weeks before this race to better prepare for this short, all-out-all-the-way bike leg.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
What would you do differently?:

Need to be able to change shoes faster.
Run
  • 16m 22s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 11s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

Make sure all injuries are fully healed before running the week before a race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking & stretching for warm-down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Re-injured my lower right leg shortly after the first mile in the run portion of the race.

Event comments:

2006 Race: A well organized event, and well marked courses. Good food afterwards.

When I used to live out there, we would spend a lot of time in Redondo and Hermosa, so it was cool to know the streets you were talking about.  Some of those stairs up from the beach can be really steep.  I don't remember how they are by the pier but that's still a long run from the beach.

Congratulation on the finish.  Did you go to Najas afterwards for a beer?
