I know the season is winding down. But I am curious what the best first time 70.3 ironman is to do for next season?

Thanks

What part of the country? What country? What time of year? What conditons? Challenging? Flat? Hot? Cool? WTC or non-branded?

Just a few of the questions you're about to get slammed with

I'm interested in suggestions as well - for me, preference would be southeast US (live in Nashville), prefer early (May-June) but open to later dates.  Branding WTC, Rev3 or other is fine, not too hilly either.

That was so dumb, sorry. I live in Ontario Canada. Anytime next year, I think something flat would be the best for a first timer?

The swim will be no problem. Working on the bike now. Run will be fairly easy.

Thanks

I've read a number of recommendations for Welland - which is run by Multisport - as a great first HIM as it is extremely flat for the bike and the run.

If I ever get enough training in for the longer distances, Welland would definitely be my first attempt at a HIM.

Scott71 thanks for your reply. Welland was on my list. Probably my number one choice. I don't know to many other HIM races. I know Muskoka which is pretty intense I've heard. And I heard Mont Tremblant is also pretty intense.

I hear Kona is a really great race! sorry, couldn't help myself. I'm planning on sticking close to home for my first 70.3 (2 hr drive). That way i can maybe go spend some time on the course beforehand, and won't have to worry about travel so much. Don't know if that's an option for you.

WTC has a brand new 70.3 in Raleigh next June 2nd, but it will be hilly on the bike.

Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa.
Subject: RE: 70.3

I did the PIGMAN Long Course on Sunday.  Bike was fairly hilly and the run has a couple of big hills but it was a nice event.  We lucked out on the heat (only 75 degrees).

I wanted an end of summer event to get in enough training.  Iowa winters can be rough.

jkintn,

I'm planning on Rev3 Knoxville in May.  Heard the bike course is a little tough, but the race is one of the best around.  Hope to see you there.
