Subject: Is 2 sprint triathlons in 2 weeks to much?Hi there, I have a dilemma that hopefully somebody can help me with. I did a sprint triathlon at the end of July, it was a wonderful experience, and when I finished I was very happy I accomplished it, and all the hard work I put in yielded a finishing result. It also left me a lot of room for improvement, and hungrier for more. So I signed up for another sprint triathlon for the end of September(September 30) . I am currently training for it, and my training couldn't be going better, and have no doubt I will be more prepared, and in much better shape for my next tri. And am very hopeful that next year I will be able to move up to longer distances. I am however very anxious to do another tri. There is another sprint Tri in the middle of September(September 16th) that I am considering doing in addition to the one at the end of September. Since the training program I am doing, has a practice triathlon scheduled for that weekend, I thought maybe I could simply do the race instead. But then again a race is so much different than practice, as I expect to put 110% effort if in if I am going to be racing, I expect to put my best effort in with the practice tri too, but its different since the course and transitions really wont be layed out the same. Which then leads me to think that it may be to much, and also I may end up losing focus on the race in the end of September and may not be as prepared for it. So to get to my question, is it a wise decision to do 2 sprint triathlon races in two weeks, or should I just focus on my original triathlon, and not stray to much from my original training plan? Thank you for all the input. |
