Subject: RE: Crit vs. TTTotal opposite ends of the bike racing spectrum.
For the racer:
TT = individual event, staggered start, metered out effort over the distance, fastest time wins.
Crit = pack event, frenetic exercise in testosterone-fed aggression over short, multi-corner courses, often with WAY over zone 6 sprints followed by snail's pace sections, often also leading to crashes and flesh left on the pavement.
For the spectator:
TT = crushing boredom with no idea who won until several hours later when the results FINALLY become final.
Crit = something exciting, with tactics, blood, testosterone, and a clear winner at the end. |
