less than 2 weeks to go.

I'd like to hear your goals.

Here are mine:

my last marathon was 5 years ago.

a year ago i was in too much pain to run.

so i decided i would run a sub 3 hour marathon.

then when miracle healing didn't happen, i pushed my goal slighlty back to a 7 min pace.

after still more setbacks i thought i might not be able to do a marathon (running)

then things started to turn around - i got through some long runs.  then i did an 18 miler with no problems.

I decided i could go 3:20's

after succesively longer runs at goal training pace I feel a PR is well within reality.

If I could run a 3:19 I would be thrilled.  I will start with the 3:15 balloons.

I thought about signing up for the Half a few times, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.  Cost of race plus hotel & gas and stuff just wasn't worth it for me right now.  Next year I'd like to try to do all of Ohio's major cities' marathons (or half's).

Sounds like you've got some great goals, though, and realistic with hope of better.  I wish I could run as fast as you do on as little mileage, hehe.  I'm likely going to log well over 40 miles a week over the next month in the hopes of doing an 8 min pace in the Fall Classic half marathon.  Wish I could blame it on youth, but you're older than me, lol!

My goals are really simple:

This is my second marathon.

Sub 4 hour (Cleveland was 4:07)

Run across finish line (Cleveland was a walk)

No med tent (Cleveland was a 45 min ice bath to drop my temperature from 104.5 back to normal)

My last year marathon was not so good, I had to walk last few miles. So, my goal is to run it all the way. And if it is less than 4:30 - I will be happy with it.

Chris - maybe next year.

Kate - I'll be looking for you.

Roy and Trig - awesome goals.  (and I too would like to avoid walking and the med tent.)

Where are you setting up shop, Kate?  I may scream something to you about pancakes.

I will probably be moving around keeping up with my friend, H2OLupa to cheer her on.  I need to do some homework and look at the route.  Pancakes.....hmmmm.... I think I can make that happen.  Pancakes shaped like face huggers?

I'm really worried that some of you very sweaty stinky runners are going to try to hug *me* instead of getting a mouthful of face hugger pancake.  I might have to re-think my sign.

Is is considered cheating if I throw a pancake into a runner's mouth?  Non-course support?

Good News Everyone!

My future BIL lives 2 doors down from the corner of Waltham and Cambridge so I should be at mile 20.5...RIGHT WHEN YOU NEED A PANCAKE!  And a face hug.

Maybe I'll make them with chocolate chips?

Kate- there are only two ways this can happen.  Either you have a sister getting married, or....

Um Yeah...Did we somehow miss something major? I would have thought that proposal would have been plastered all over FB...I mean I know all our lives get busy but I wouldn't have missed that one.

And Brue - My Goal = Finish, I can't believe I'm stupid enough to do this.

I can say nothing about the above highlighted statement.  Stay tuned!

But I can make chocolate chip and bourbon pancakes appear!

Good luck to you all!!

I am out this year. Just when I was feeling really good about my run training, I took a misstep on the path in the dark and pulled a ligament. That was 1.5 weeks ago, and it still hurts and I haven't run since then.

Brue, you have always been there cheering when I have run it. You deserve to have a great marathon.

If I manage to get down there with the kids (I'm on the fence) I will look for you near the 3:15 balloons. Not sure where I'll be if I do go. Maybe that vast wasteland near Battelle where the silence is deafening.

Pancakes are too time consuming and my puppet is dead in the water.  I will have PBR and pretzels.  See you all soon!

I *think* you looked right at me- I had on a pink/orange hat and wooly coat.  My sign said "PR?" and on the reverse "Shut Up Legs!"

Hope you had a great run!

Oh - that was you that did the chuck norris chalk.

i notice the "Shut up legs" sign before I saw you.  I read an article in Cycling about one of the pros that that is his mantra.  I needed that reminder.  My right leg was saying STOP!

Aysel,

Definately saw your shut up legs sign and all the chalk.  I wanted to stop and read it, but at that point I really just wanted to lay down.

I did go three for three on my goals though!

-no med tent CHECK

-run across the finish Check

-under 4:00:00 Check (barely) 3:58:31

Those are classic and would give anyone a chuckle! Chuck Norris footprint is the best, I may have to steal that one!
