I don't want anyone to feel pressured into doing this.  It is just for fun to do something for ourselves.  I am the worst at taking care of myself and making me a priority.  It is important for each one of us to make us a priority.  Starting today!

The "jammer" thread on TT reminded me of something I thought you all might get a laugh out of (don't laugh if it makes you dizzy Jo).

Since I started swim training about two years ago I've always worn tankini type tops with boxy shorts.  Just a modesty thing, didn't feel comfortable in a one piece with my bum hanging-all-out-there.  In the last year i've gone through TWO sets of TYR tri-top + mens short jammers outfits. So with all of the black friday sales I decided to look, AGAIN, for a durable one-piece that I might feel comfortable in. Well I found an endurance suit that *mostly* fits.  I'm still not comfortable with my hiney hanging out, and I HATE the color, but I bought it and wore it to Masters last week.

Coach Andie and one of the younger ladies (Michelle) commented on my suit. I think I made an icky face and they asked about it.  I mentioned I'm not happy with it and they looked at me like i'm nuts. I guess it's just me. Of course Michelle HAD to make a comment about having a body like mine when she's "my age".

But now I finally wear a one-piece. Embarassed

I'm mainly laughing at your use of the word "hiney" Smile

Nah, I think most the ladies in here can agree on not feeling overly comfortable in a one-piece ... or really any swim apparel. I always feel like if the suit is actually cute in any way it's completely not functional and if it's functional it's gonna be unattractive.

As it turns out I'll bet everyone looks a lot better in their suit than they give themselves credit for, you included. Michelle said so Wink

your Yantiness - TEN POINT BIKE SAFETY CHECK.

1. Tires - Slowly spin the wheels check for debris, cracks or worn spots.  Know the correct inflation level check before every ride
2. Wheels - Check each of your spokes for tightness.  Raise each wheel off the ground and spin it gently check for wobbliness - if in doubt hit the LBS.
3. Brakes - spin each wheel gently again.  Test your brakes by gently squeezing them and again by quickly squeezing them.  Brake pads should be evenly spaced away from the rim and when applied should touch the wheel at the same time from both sides.  If all good, check again while pedalling at slow speed.
4. Skewers - you don't want them too loose or too tight.  Should be able to release with one hand but not one finger.
5. Seat Post - Tightness - not loose don't want to ride standing coz your saddle has worked loose!
6. Aerobars- properly tightened.  Stand in front of your bike, hold the end of your aero bars with both hands, gradually apply more weight on them pressing down with your body weight.  If they move they are probably too lose - don't over tighten though....
7. Headset - needs to be snug but not so tight that it damages your bike.  Bike mechanic for this one
8. Helmet/helmet buckle - Put your helmet on a couple of times and test your buckle.  Straps should be snug around your face.
9. Shoe Cleats - Check your bike shoe cleats for cracks and wear.  Make sure they clip in and out of your pedals smoothly.  Bring an extra set to races. Make sure screws on cleats are tight as they may loosen in travelling
10. Tire-Changing Gear - Don't assume you have everything.  Take a quick inventory.  For clincher tires, 2 fresh tubes, 3 CO2 cartridges and two plastic tire irons.

Ended up doing my walking with my daughter who wanted to get out of the house.  Nice foggy walk.  We have had this weird fog all day.  I would have loved foggy running today but I will take what I can get.    Too hard at night to run in fog because of the glare of the headlamp. Not the same relaxing experience as day time fog.   Walk with my daughter was worth missing out on running.

Look at you with all  your problems you still got time to think of lil ol me!  Sorry to hear of the sudden passing of your SO's mother, terrible - no words will help.  Just time I'm afraid.

I m still dizzy.  I'm off work til Friday Doctor's orders!  I feel better but not normal - was I ever!  Just fuzzy light headed.

I've not trained since Thursday - imagine that!!!  Anyway back on the drainer today, see how that grabs me.

Nice!! Even better when you can get someone to go with you!

I love running in day fog. Almost as cool as running in the snowfall.

I'm in for the challenge too! (I just haven't been on here today til just now...) Day one was a pretty huge amount of walking, day 2 was a full body workout with strength and some bits of cardio (about 42 minutes total), and after school tonight (day 3), its another full body workout (with hopefully less squats...my butt hurts today---*----from YESTERDAY'S workout squats!!!), plus some yoga.

I am trying to get back into a regular training type deal--I am using a 90 day workout program on the Wii Active 2 game(?), plus doing the tri training set to me by my coach. I also am adding some extra strength stuff for my future Spartan races--I am determined to defeat all obstacles next time!

I'm all inspired right now--prob'ly due to school being just about done for 2012, and knowing that the next round of school is my LAST (can't remember if I posted about that here or not--oh well endulge me for now, I am super happy that I may actually finish this crap)....

Also super happy cause I have one of these at work now:

 its a Blue Tree Monitor

I do have a thing for blue animals.Cool

How come they don't have chocolate Cheerios?

Or do they?

No matter, in less than 60 hours I shall be crunching on my very favorite cereal in the world ...

NUTRI-GRAIN!

The Aussie/Kiwi kind, not the U.S. kind. That stuff is ... shudder ... kinda healthy.

Nutrigrain is da bomb!  And it's Ironman food it says so on the box!  IK'm so annoyed I can't get to WA to see you - we're on the same continent for a few days dammit!  Oh well, actually it's probably easier to fly to Bali than get to Busselton!

Nutri Grain is how I first learned about Ironman when I was a wee one.

Now I'm going to be a weeing one. :D

{MELON PRESS} to you Jo ... I can't imagine having "seasickness" for days on end.

To be honest I am completely over this seasick feeling.  I start to feel better then it kinda comes back but always slightly less severe so I am getting better.  The doctor's repositioning move really helped...may get him to do it again Thursday.

Now for some lunch - is it odd to want baked beans on toast?

New avatars!!  They are beautiful and confusing all at once!  Yanti gorgeous and spendorific in pink and Kirsten posted a pic of one of her talented housemates/furry kids!  Felicia is a streaker!!

Actually a tribute to my handsome boy that I lost last Christmas day.  He was the best doggie ever.  Still miss him everyday, despite having the Canadian version of the Funny Farm ... 3 dogs and 2 cats....

Sorry you haven't been feeling great, Mel, hope it clears up soon.

Oh I wish that was a pic of mine, but he's still in quarantine--after he gets out of that and into the beautiful exhibit I am building, I will get a good shot! Mine, his name is Cobalt (if he's a he...Sapphire if he's a she), is still pretty young--and quite a bit smaller--but still gorgeous!

Oh yeah---workout is done!

I'm trying to burn off all my vacay time, so another day off today. I took another trail run in the state forest, from a different trailhead. I got home and perused some of the Manatee logs. Man, ya'll are awesome! Great training for many and even more impressive is all of those that are struggling with a variety of personal challenges and still finding time to be available for others. I am always impressed by the level of human being in here.

OK, off to the bike store for an install of a new derailleur, then home to begin the outside decos on the house. I'll see if I can get a pic or two of the house when it is done.
